Haven't seen the movie. But I've seen a commercial of it on TV. :loser:
Are you talking about the stripes? Haven't noticed any sponser decals on the hood.
Do you really want to make that car. The blue stripes look gay. Makes me want to puke.
Someone here has done the nismo skyline with blue stripes already though. Can't remeber his name.

Haven't noticed the decals? How could you miss them, they're large and obtrusive, right on the side of the hood. There's even an APC sticker in there somewhere. :bloated:

Here's a pic of the hood.

I's say your best bet would be to find all the logos and print them on a decal sheet in blue. I'd do the stipes as decals too so the colors match up.
Good luck

I actually like that R34. The sponser decals don't bother me a lot.
The side stripes could be masked and sprayed, but it'd be hard to match up with your sponser decals. I think I might try one of those too.

i don't mind the fact that there's sponsor decals on the car, that's a regular occurence. the thing that bothers me is that there's an APC decal on an R34 Skyline. that's just NOT RIGHT!
that car is evil in my books...but if you feel like building it...more power to you, i think...

Masking could work on the stripes, but to get the fade on the side stripes of the car would would be difficult. Could you spray is solid and then fade it down using cutting compound?
I really like this car, but it's a shame that they converted it to rear wheel drive for the movie. :disappoin I think that it was a good decision to keep the graphics simple and all the same color.
.......
S13_Iketani, why such a fuss over the APC sponsorship?

Been wanting to build this for ages. You gotta make the sponser decals yourself and it seems decals might be the best option for the graphics too. Unless you got a good flowing airbrush and alot of masking tape. Its gonna be hard to blend the colours though.
Mines gonna have working neons...electronics teacher said i could do it as part my curriculum.

You could wait until I bring out the decals and other bits and pieces for it. The C-West transkit I made was done with this car in mind, plan is to have the decals, wing, rims and possibly the interior goodies to go with it in the coming months.

i had already made the skyline before chris released his cwest kit, will now be remaking another one to replicate it better with the cwest kit, i sprayed the car silver then masked off and used tamiya blue clear acrylic. it just took a bit of time and patience

also there is no blending of colours on the car, that is just light and shade! its solid colour, possibly a pearl paint

I have a lot of those markings available. Not sure if it's going to be the right color blue for you though. You can see the decal sheet here:

To get the fade (it looks like a fade to me), you could mask it off and then spray clear blue with an airbrush just like Chris did. I've faded paint before sucessfully. Takes some practive and a whole lot of patience. I'm going to wait until I can find more reference material and get together money to order the SAS C-Style R34 and ITR body kits.

well here in the uk serveral of the uk tuning magazines have been given access to the cars for photo shoots, and i have seen shots from all angles and there is not fade what soever, not even a hint, with regards to the apc logo, the pics i have seen looks like A1C with a plannet loop on it, the cars were put together by craig liberman, i dont think you will find anything on those cars that isnt meant to be, all the paints came from house of color, and if you go to the web site then it even lists the individual colours used

chrismcgee, which mags were they featured in? I'd love to get my hands of some pics of any of the cars, especially the BMW that hit the water barriers.

its in the latest issue of max power, there is even i giant poster of all the cars, www.maxpower.co.uk i think it is sold in the states as well. i have a feeling the blue is a pearl paint, as the more acute the angle the photo is taken from the lighter the colour, which would explain the "fade" but this would be inapropriate for a scale model i feel, just a nice blue over the silver for an even look, good luck with the job.:bigthumb:

New to the Model Cars section of AF. I haven't done a model in about 4 years due to time contstraints and the military but I am out now so planning on getting back into it.
Even though Craig Liberman helped in the putting together of the cars, anyone who owns a Skyline especially if they went throught the trouble to bring it to the states, would not waste their money and put APC products on their skyline. And yes the APC logo is as you describe it. About the only thing that would be APC on that car would be that rediculous and painful to the eyes, park bench err I mean wing. I guess it would be useful to sit on it and have a smoke while waiting for class to start.
The APC logo on that skyline was money well spent for APC cuz they get advertisement time from the movie and that is the only reason it is on that car.

Yeah, they just don't have very high quality parts, like there headlights and taillights tend to let moisture and water through to the inside. That is why ppl on here don't like the fact that they put that logo on a skyline.

that car was a disgrace as soon as craig lieberman put 1600 NOS bottles in place of the passenger seat. Now its just WORSE. you have to respect the shear power of the skyline and the fact that it can be made to insane horsepower levels WITHOUT Nitrous. putting all that nitrous and stickers on that car is a disgrace and any self respecting Nissan enthusiast should get naucious:puke:

Well, even if you could find some, It'd be kind of hard to use since you don't have an airbrush, and you're not using mine. :D

according to the reviews on that cat the 3 nitrous bottles are all dummies, just to make him look like a loony, it was actualy craigs own skyline but as soon as filming stopped he striped it back and repainted it dark blue, got rid of the nos, sent it to hks and now is running about 700bhp
