engine swap

I did a search but did not find any specific answers.
I have a 91 STD hatch.....yeah that's the one.....the 72 hp, 4 speed bomber...
Anyway, it has alot of miles and the motor is tired....(ha! it was tired when it left the factory!) But I am looking to swap out the motor. I do not have a ton of money and I am not looking for a race car. I just need a good engine with low miles that will take me on down the road.
What would be the easiest swap for me to have done?? (I'm not talented enough to do this myself so I will have to have it done elsewhere) What engine would bolt up directly with the least amount of mods?
And if I can afford it, I might as well look into a 5 speed tranny.
Would someone mind letting me know my options and an approximate cost to have it done? I want to hang on to this car for many more years and rather than rebuild the "beast", a swap would be the better choice...providing I can afford it.. Thanks!

Well if you're not really into it then i'd suggest swapping it out for a d16a6 from 88-91 crx/civic si motor. You just need to convert dpfi to mpfi. Not that hard. Also u need to change your wheel hubs into crx/civic si so that your new axles can fit. Unless you want to use your existing axles.

he would already have mpfi on the HF, id swap for like a zc or any d-series motor, will bolt right up, vtec motors would require more wiring but you will have a much quikcer ride after any swap.

Any ballpark figures on how much a d16a6 swap would cost installed? In comparison to a ZC? Also would swapping the 4 spd for a 5 spd be required (or at least recomended)? How much does a tranny swap go for? Thanks!

dood, if u want the easiest swap for this car, then get a d15 with a 5 speed out of a dx. ull have an extra gear, plus a motor with lower miles (if u buy wun wit lower miles) u dont have to change any wiring for this motor ! but, u will still have to change the hubs, with is a cinch man... easy as hell... but see, if u do that, then u might as well but in a d16 or zc, and just do the easy mpfi wiring... its all realetivly easy stuff man, just time consuming.. u could really do it ur self, or with the help of a friend that is way into cars, but doesnt know shit, n just acts like he does, this would build his confindence also. so it up to u man. dx... around the same power, a lil torqueier tho, si (d16) or zc... much more power... or dohc zc ! ... kick in the pants kind of fun.... it ur choice... i have detailed instructions to either wun u choose, so just hit me up...
