What songs make you think...?

See...I had quite a bit of time on my hands today while I was listening to some CD's that a friend had given me. This particular song stood out in my mind when I was thinking about some of the more recent deaths of my close friends...here are the lyrics.

"This Ride"

it says hold on and take this ride
and set aside
memories of all the times
when you collide
then you'll leave me here to die
heres the things i meant
but never said

it says sit back and take the time
to lose your mind
and find out what its like to die
so wheres my spine
when its time to give an obvious and simple reason why
i wont write again

what do you see
when you look at me
do you take me for a fool

so what makes you play this game
with results always the same
and nothing but bad reputations to gain
it speaks to me like all is fine
and i could cry
from all the bends and breaks that i
took this time
when happieness is based on lies
its so hard its too hard to tell the truth

what do you see
when you look at me
do you take me for a fool
this fool is through

this fool is through
this fool is through

what do you see
when you look at me
do you take me for a fool

what do you see
when you look at me
do you take me for a fool

it says hold on and take this ride
and set aside
memories of all the times
when you collide
then you'll leave me here to die
heres the things i meant
but never said

What are some songs that make you really think about things that have gone on? I'm just kinda curious because sometimes I think that this just happens to me.

Songs don't really make me think, not huge on music but they do remind me of the times when the song first came out.

doubt that made ANY sense to anyone.

You know the XMas song - I'm dreaming of a White Christmas?

Well, I put together that the singer was white and it was written in the early 50s. Teh Ozzie knows what he really means and refuses to sing it because teh Ozzie loves teh Black Brothers. :D

"Know your ABC's?" by kids everywhere
well, it doesn't make me think, but it helps me think. :bloated:

A few songs make me think, but it's more nostalgia than anything else.

Fuck! Kylie Minogue and Gigi D'Agostino are owning me right now! http://students.washington.edu/leprakon/dtm-af/smilies/wtc.gif Can't get this girl out of my head.

Radiohead...his metaphors are so complex. That guy is a genius. I'm in the process of digesting Hail To The Thief. Blues type Jazz sets me into a thinking mode. So does playing my harmonica to some blues songs. I guess it's just the context more than my feelings.

Most alternative/Rock makes me think, I drift off into my own little world. Some songs are like a smack in the face and I'm like whoa, I never though about it like that before...lol.
Creed- my own prison takes me back to the days when it first came out and me and my guys partied day and night and jammed that CD all the time.
Techno takes me back to the Raving days and again the whole partying all night and stuff.

Good music, Good times, Good memories.....lol:cool:

Try listening to Garth Brooks - The Dance. It is a sincere song that makes me think of the first time I heard it played as a soundtrack to a collection of pictures of drunk driving victims. I will never in my life need another reminder not to drink and drive.

"She Shook Me All Night Long" by good old AC/DC always makes me think.

On a serious note though, "He Aint Heavy" by the Hollies always reminds me of the old NZ Police ads and reminds me of the goal.

Yeah, the original was made in the 1960's so you'd have to be an oldies listener to know it. Its alot softer and sweeter, makes me teary :crying: .....lol

"Don't Let the Water Run Dry" (or whatever it's called) by Boys II Men
"Seeing Red" - Unwritten Law
"Remember Me" - Tim McGraw (not too big on country, but I like a few songs)
"Moondance" - Van Morrison
"Strait Out of Line" - Godsmack
"If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time" - R. Kelly
Bach, Beethoven, Mozart are all really good too.

Many, many more....I love music. I have a wide range of music as you can see.

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride, Independence Day by Martina McBride.. both really good songs, but you gotta see the videos to fully understand them. I cried when I saw them.. She's soo good. Also, the Skid Row version of Cat's In The Cradle... Too many to list.. I keep thinking of new songs.

I know what you mean..."Waiting on Joe", forgot who sang it.

I think it's Steve Azar who sings Wating On Joe. For those of you who don't know, its a song about how a guy who's always late dies on his way to work. His brother, Steve Azar, always gave him a hard time for running late and now he feels awful. Check it out, it's a great song.

Yeah, it's a Longhorn Beetle apparently. I walked outside one day and saw it on my car. It was the biggest thing I had ever seen! And don't worry about being off topic! We're in the COMPLETELY off-topic forum
