Audi GT rally decal options

I recently picked up a copy of the Tamiya kit at a swap, but the decals aren't in too great shape. what decals are avilable that would be correct for the kit without modification? I like the sweedish meet decals by Studio 27. are there any other companies making decals for this car?

I don't know for sure, but Renaisance may make some decals for the Audi, I do know that Studio27 make several different liveries though.

Check on www.mediamixhobby.com.sg and you may find more available? That's where I always look first anyhow....

Renaissance do a few conversions but some or all of them requre a complete new resin body.

S27 did a few different liveries including the aforementioned Swedish Rally 1982 won by the great Stig Blomqvist. I've got that sheet and it has a few inaccuracies, which is annoying but par for the course unfortunately.

Some of them may be getting a bit hard to find now. Good luck.

Monte carlo and sweedish are not in bold on HLJ's website, which i think means they may or not be able to get them, while the rest should be available. I was wondering if any of these (or other) sheets would be useable without substantial mods to the car (all i know about rally i learner from playing GT3:) )

If you stick to the 82 and early '83 A1 Group 4 cars you should be mostly okay (Tamiya's kit is an A1 from the Acropolis '82). Be careful with the others as in late '83 the A2 Group B car was introduced. That will require some body surgery with added vents and fairings. The '84 Monte car for example is an A2, unsure about the others.

Go for the renaissance transkits if you want to build these later examples. If you want to get really wild then Reji make a Resin S1 kit, but that would require a substantial investment of money and time to do justice.

The Marlboro livery should look cool.

Alright! thank you very much, I'll put that in on my next order, can't wait to do this one up. I was afraid I'd have to make a copy of the kit decals to make an accurate model. And that S1 kit does look cool, but its Waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy out of my price range (I've also never done a resin car before, just planes)

Like Phil said, Tamiya's Audi Quattro is the Gr4 model used from 1981 Monte to the end of 1982. However it isn't A1 as the A1 Quattro was revised version homologated in Group B and it was used from 1983 Monte Carlo rally. A2 was another evolution used from 1983 Rally of Argentina onwards until 1984 RAC(I think). The short wheel base Audi Quattro Sport came after that and debuted in 1984 Tour de Corse. After that came the huge winged Quattro E2 in 1985.

Easiest way to recognize Gr4, A1 and A2 is to look for the air intakes in front of the rear wheel. Gr4 has none, A1 has one and A2 has two intakes.

I stand corrected Mikko, Audis have always confused me a bit, especially at the end, for instance was is the difference between an E2 and an S1?

S1 is the non-winged short Sport Quattro and E2 (evolution 2) is the last Quattro with the huge wings. So the two short Quattro models are both S1:s, but the winged is E2. In some sources the winged version is known as S1 and the Sport Quattro just Sport Quattro, and all this makes things a bit confusing sometimes...

I checked the names from Klein's rallycars and from the FIA homologation papers just to be sure.
