Immobiliser Key

Hi
I have a Renault Megane 1.6RT (it is from 1997)
I have a problem with the immobiliser key which has been replaced as new (direct from Renault) and programmed just last month by a specialist company.
The key has power (ie a red light flashes brightly when I use key) but only works very intermittently to de-activate the immobiliser. I am therefore fairly confident that it is not the key issue.
The company concerned believe the issue lies with the immobiliser itself/strength of signal and that because of this it works very intermittently.
It should be said that the car runs perfectly ie starts, all electrics etc good on the occasions when the signal gets sent/received.
Getting finally to the question: How much to replace whatever part/system related to the immobiliser (parts & Labour).
Any thoughts appreciated.
