Is suspension THAT important?

Well, I've been reading a lot of bike magazines, and recently, suspension seems to be a big deal. They basically state that you should adjust your suspension and such to fit you and your bike. I was just wondering if this was really that neccessary, or if it can just be left alone. They give instructions on how to do it yourself, and I just wanted to know if I should take time to do this or not. Thanx.

It can make a world of difference. Remember, in a car... meh... there's a lot of weight and 2 other wheels to take into account any suspension alterations. Bikes have LITTLE weight, and every little thing matters b/c of it. I've heard many of the guys that I ride with say that their confidence, handling, and physical comfort increased quite a bit with just a lil suspension tweaking.

I'm one of those guys! I rode my whole first summer on stock setup, after teaking it a little, I now throw the bike way lower in corners. Setup of the suspention is important, and it take so little time.

Oops, just read it again. I guess I don't ride with you, but if I'm ever in the area...
Anyway, everything else I ment, and good susp. bits are good.

While we're on the suspention topic...
I have seen some R6's that have been converted to run R1 forks. Does anyone have any idea what you need to do this? I've also seen people ask why do this. Well, I want to go to Ohlins forks, and the only one I can get are their race forks which are $4K+. On the other hand they make R&T forks for R1s which are a little over $2K, and I can go to radial mount calipers. So, what does it take?

From what I have heard they are a direct bolt on... but don't take my word for it, I would try to find another R6 rider who did te conversion as well.

That would be nice. Thanks.
Is there anybody else? Somebody whose done this, or knows somebody that has.
