Dam i notice that my max can't handle shit. When i turn, the car doesn't feel good. One day i was racing a honda prelude, i killed him in the strait away. But when we drove around at high speeds, i couldn't catch up. I was scared cuz the car didn't feel good. I got a 95 se. Maybe it was the tires. They were pumped up to 40 psi, is that kinda high? Don't know, felt all the bumps, it was harsh. Going to race again but i will get burnt. I have a auto tramission which is very slow. Like 1 sec slower than a mannel right? Going to race again, is there any tips?

Total OT here guys, but Dave your car looks SWEET!! Did you happen to take any pictures of the system? I would really love to see some install pics! Just wondering.

Yes I agree FSTB and RSB to help through the twisties. Some springs and performance shocks/struts will also help! :D

I'm going to soon. My roommate has a Sony digital camera he borrowed from work and his laptop has the software for the camera to upload pics. Mine doesn't but that will change soon. I will take more pics when I get a chance...

40psi? that's too high...lower the psi a little bit(around 30-33psi) with ur stock tires...and get the suspension mods people talked about above

If your car is stock (suspension wise) and it handles like $hit, have it looked at. My Max handled great when it was stock and even better when I lowered it. If you want to do 1 mod at a time start with a FSTB.

well, getting a FSTB is good...but i think in his case, maybe a sway bar will work better since he has no other suspension mods.

Get some phat ass Wheels on your ride. The biggest helper will be buying some ultra high performance tires , or Max performance tires. I noticed the change right away, UNBELIEVEBLE !!!! I could smoke a prelude in strait racing or slalom. Go with wider tires, but remember , wider = better handling = slower acceleration, just because larger = bigger rimz = heavier rimz n tires = takes more power to spin. With the setup right now I can run at 120 mph , do a fast manuver and not loose control. I know this cause last week I was going 120 mph and there was a huge fucking rabbit on the freeway. I had to do a sudden light turn and my car just stayed so stable, amazing. My older car would be flipping right away. THE SUSPENSION ON MAXIMAS (OEM) SUX. This is basicly the only part of my car that I modified (cause I have an automatic)(+ the sound and security system). Get some rimz, GOOD TIRES, and lower the damn thing . Later all.

Is there someone in this forum from Florida to tell me how bad are cops in Florida if they catch u speeding ? I'm going there , and I know that they have nice roads in there. I need to satisfy my desire of turning at high speeds, and it might cost me alot , but I still do it. Anyways, Let me know if you know anythink about the rules in Florida. Thnx

ftsb, drop the car, get some wider rims (17x8 or 18x8.5) and you will be very pleased :)

YOU TIRE PRESURE IS WAY TO HIGH(MY 2000 FACTOR REC SAYS 32 psi, the presure on your tire wall is just telling you the max you can put in, the manu. has a specific number somewhere on your max, look in the sides of the door, mine was on the bottom of my lid in my copartment) . THAT IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP GOING FAST WITH A MAX, MAINTAIN YOUR TIRE PRESSURE. ALSO ROTATING YOUR TIRES EVERY 6-7OOO MILES HELPS YOU TURN SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER. MY FINAL TIP IS TO CHECK YOUR TREADS TOO, THAT AFFECTS YOUR...WELL EVERYTHING. THE EASIEST/CHEAPEST WAY YOU CAN KEEP TURNING AND SPEEDING WELL IS PROPERLY MAINTAINING YOUR TIRE PRESSURE

Cyko.... I used to live in Fla., and the cops were nutz on me. At that time, I owned a Buick Grand National. Seems like it was a cop magnet, because I had my license suspended all except about a year of the 6 years I was there. But then again, that may also be because my right foot is heavier than my left!:D

The mod with the biggest change are the tires, so go get the best tires, the second mod would be the shocks (if you haven’t changed them since 95, I’m sure this is one of the problems), get some Koni s, which are adjustable, so you can tune them for your taste, and as the front ones may be adjusted just by turning their key, you can change them before a race. I would suggest to make this two changes, before lowering the car.
About the tire pressure, 40 is too much, be careful, as when racing the car, temperature rises, and because of this, the pressure in the tires might get to high. We know that high pressure reduces the rolling resistance of the tires, making your car glide more freely, but it also increases the risk of blowing them, so here are some ways of determining the right pressure
1 See the specifications of the tires you are buying, (in the pirelli page there is a specific section).
2 Clean you tires, adjust the pressure that the manual of your car says, or the specifications for your new tires
3 Ride the car hard, (hard turning)
4 Park the car and see if the marks in the tires, it should be marked exactly at the tire groves, not more, not less.
The pros after riding hard, have the temperature of the tire floor (tread) measured, and the right pressure is when the temp is the same on the sides, and in the center of the tread

i keep my tires at 36psi

RALMADA
11-15-2001, 08:18 PM
36 psi seems just a little above of what I would think is the best pressure.
Which tires do you have, and what measure are they?.

Clean your tirees, ride hard, and see isf you use all the floor of your tires, if there is thread unused, then you shoul lower them, as you are not using all the grip of your rubber

Hey,

I got the konis yellow sports adj. on my ride and I'm totally satisfied. There is only one problem, I don't know how to adjust the rear struts . DO U KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE REAR KONIS YELLOWS ????? plz let me know, I really want to get the Maximum out of my Maxima :) For better handling get some lowering springs, and don't forget to lower at least 2" , if not, your car will look like stock cause GLE's r 4x4 on the stock springs. Thats one mistake that I've done. I bough H&R 1.4" springs and the car looks like it havnt been lowered. Good luck.

Heavy right foot is my family name

The rear koni shocks cannot be adjusted in the car, you have to take them down, press them to the max and turn them. The full explanation is in

Suspended license sucks, i got mine suspended till i am 18=) still drive anyways, but the Manual maxima is much faster then the stick shift, its about 7.4-7.7 for the auto and 6.6-6.8 for the stick shift, good luck racing, my maxima pounded a 99 auto prelude going 100+mph
