in my 1999 Honda civic DX stock 5 sp. I have beat a 1986 RX-7,1998 Accord LX, 1990 or 91 240sx,celica GT or he just had GT on it,Saturn SL2,S10 lol,1990 or 1991 EX Accord,and some old Camaro IROC.



I got my car used for a car lot they had just go it and did not know anything about that car My godfather is the GM so I got the car cheap and easy cost me $300 plus my old beat up 1990 Civic so it may not be stock but it lots stock to me nothing i can see has been chg unless they did work inside motor

I dont have to prove anything to you and all but 2 of the cars I raced was friends for school The IROC was really old and shitty Lookin. and I think the Gt was fake cuss I know that should have kick my ass if it was GT. and as for the respect for people that know more then me. I dont think yall know s***. I mean looking at HP there is no way a Neon beat a V6 Mustang and no way a Hyundai Tiburon FX beat a 3.0 Z3 BMW. There are a whole lot more factor then just HP

Exactly. I had a dx and never beat anything so Redrunner is feeding line after line of bs in this post. Maybe he beat them while they were being towed, or parked :iceslolan

2) His car. I am sure that if it was somebody with an EX, even with just a SOHC, you'd all have an easier time believing him, since he'd have the almighty VTEC.

In car-stats.com (which I'm using since it is tangible and easy to confirm by you guys), it states that the the 1996 Civic DX (essentially the same car) runs a 16.7 quarter stock. In the same site, the 1996 Civic EX runs a 17.6...almost a second slower.

How can that be? How can two similar cars...except one has 127HP and the other has 106HP...be so unequal, with the advantage going to the one with less HP? Easy. It's called OPTIONS. All the standard equipment available on a Civic EX but not on a DX (i.e., ABS, PW, PDL, MNRF) adds about 200-300lbs on to that chassis.

We all know how power-sapping that much weight difference can be. Anyone that has tried to race with and without a passenger can attest to that.

But wouldn't the extra power make-up for it? Maybe in the extreme top-end. Since both powerplants (d16y7, d16y8) put out similar torque, the weight difference is very noticeable when both take-off from a light.

3) The cars he challenged.

Let's look at them:

a) 1986 RX-7 == Stock and without a turbo, these cars run a best of mid-low 16's in perfect tune. Don't forget, this is a 17yr-old car.

b) 1998 Accord LX == A high 16, low 17-second car, though capable of low 16's bone stock with a capable driver...so's the DX.

c) 1990-1991 240SX == Mid 16-second car in good tune.

d) Celica GT == He never mentioned what year. For all we know, it's an older model GT, which were low 17, mid 16-second cars too. Heck, even the new GTs (not GT-S, GT) are mid/low 16-second cars.

e) 1990-1991 EX Accord == Another 17-second car. Oh, that's also in good tune.

f) Old Camaro IROC == Hardest one to swallow out of all the line-up. These category of cars. The old IROCs (1985-1990), ran between a mid-14 to mid 15-second quarter, depending on year and trim.

Two things, either he mistook a Camaro RS...with the 305 and running high 16's...for an IROC, or he caught one in really bad tune, which is more than possible.

I beat a lamborghini countach in my dads '67 corvette once,....LOL, although I don't think the guy in the lamborghini saw me or knew i was racing him...i just feel special because i raced a sick car like that without the driver even knowing what i was doing...lol

but seriously i beat a 2000 honda civic in my prelude, and also a acura integra, not sure what year, i normally don't race alot though, i just drive fast and if i do race i don't remember everything about the car i am up against:iceslolan

A Countach is not "sick" I'm pretty sure a Z06 could walk one. A Viper could for sure.

I came up behind this black C5 Vette last night on #10 (Hurontario St.) Its a nice street and really opens up between Mississauga and Brampton. We actually got side by side at red lights a few times but didn't let loose cause one time the road ahead was carved up, traffic up ahead, plus this older dude never once looked over at me - but always made it a point to speed up before me.

So we finally line up again after about ten minutes of tailing each other - right across from the Peel Regional Police headquarters no less! My posi clutch in my differential has been worn out for weeks and I'm not able to really hammer it anymore (cause I'll incinerate my rear right tire!), so I had to do this smooth. Ligh turned green and he sped up of course (not WOT) and I smoothly accelerated to half throttle then punched it. He had at least one full car length between us when I hammered it, and he must have heard my engine/known what I was up to cause he was WOT before I made up half of that car length between us.

That didn't matter. I flew by him so easily and heard him shift gears into second when I got just about a third of a car ahead of him - but my baby just kept pulling to 6000 RPM and 80 Kph (48 Mph) before my second gear kicked in. After my first gear ran out I had one car length on him which I held right up to 140 (85 Mph) - he could have actually crept his nose up beside the back of my door cause he was in my blind spot the whole time, but it didn't matter to me.

Best part was that I was racing my automatic in 1 and 2, and at 140 Kph the car was at 6000 RPM in second gear and would have hit the fuel cutoff if I hadn't gotten off the gas right then. So when I let up my engine was HOWLING still stuck in 2 and must have been the final eye opener for this older preppy gino dude.

Needless to say when we hit the next intersection he went left, I went right, and we both booked before any Cops had a chance to catch up and ask who won.

You need to get that diff replaced. Try a Detroit-locker , next time :biggrin:
At this point I'm only running 30 more Hp than stock , basically 17lbs of boost instead of 13.5 (stock). Enough to spin all 4 on a 5000 rpm launch. Buschur Racing makes a kit to swap in any of the Mitsubishi turbo's , from the 14B to the massive 20G. This is because the Subaru turbo's are horribly laggy and very peaky , they are generally only good in the very end of the rev range , whereas the Mitsu turbo's have full boost at 3000 rpm , even the big 20G. I don't really wanna make this a project car yet , since its still under warranty. I'm currently in the market for another car , likely a Supra MK3 , or an RX7 Turbo II. Damn, what times are you pulling? What MPH? Sounds like you're into mid 12s from the way you beat the C5. Surprised you could do it with the Hotcam and no headwork. or do you have heads done and didn't mention it?
Ok, here's some power tips, lol...
Ditch the edelbrocks and get coated longtubes.
Switch out those gears for some 3.73s or 3.42s and get a bigger stall and you will see your times jump by nearly 8/10.
Get some headwork if you haven't already!
For diagnostics/tuning pick up a copy of LT Edit or Tunercat. Both are about $300 and allow you to tune and diagnose your LT1 with a laptop and burn cable.:smile:

I know what those WRX's are all about man. My girlfriend's older brother has a 2001 WRX - he's put a few grand into it: suspension is totally re-done and dropped, he got the same turbo but with bigger intercooler, intake, a custom computer program, and other little stuff but this car easily keeps up with my Z28 in a straight line - and is just bloody dangerous around turns! This guy can pretty much head into any turn in any gear full throttle and not slide one bit. He's at the point now (300 HP) where major swaps would need to be done to get anymore HP out of the car.

EDIT: And I don't think he's voided the warranty - although the oldest brother is a mechanic at a Subaru dealership so maybe they just don't give a shit or pulling scams.

That little T-25 turbo should be pretty much maxed out then. I have mine maxed out now , pretty much. 17 psi is all they can handle really. which holds Hp to about 250 or so. I may get a 16G and go for about 325 Hp. And the TurboXS chip should net me a touch more , and eliminate the speed limiter and overboost warning. I have plans , just working them slowly right now. Money is also playing a big factor here , I have a 7 month old daughter:biggrin:

Naaaaaa. If you read my story carefully you'll realise that I hammered it more than a half second before he did - if it would have been a real race off the line he would have smoked me with the way my diff. is right now.

Heads? Naaaaaaaaaaa. Those are all the mods I've got right now. Unlike most people who brag that their "strip" times are low 13's when they're "street" times are more like mid-high 13's, my Z28's strip times are bang on what my street times are: high 13's - every time.

My pathetic Z28 (non-SS or modded) suspension is bone stock and aging, converter is stock, and my gears are so low I can't really get good launches on the strip or the street. Thats all it boils down to: how good of a launch you get off the line. From a rolling start my Z28 is as fast as any LS1 car. I must say that the majority of guys I've raced in Vette's or LS1 F-Body's tend to light up their tires on a green light - just sitting there spinning for half.....sometimes even a full second before they hook up and take off. In little more than a second after my quick boots I'm already hitting the sweet part of my LT1's power curve - If those other guys haven't already hooked up by then they're got a real tough time getting ahead of me.

C'mon man, you know its all in the launch - How many guys at the strip have you seen pull off low 13's one run then come right back with a laim 14+ ET cause their tires bogged off the line??

Its funny. Last time I was up in Woodbridge (Gino/Fast 'n the Furious Ville) I managed to find a black LS1 Z28 and a black Z06 out of like 300 other rice rods. I pull up to these guys standing around their cars and start to shoot the shit. One guy is like "What, YOU want to race??", I'm like, well, OK? "This is a low 13 second car bud(LS1 Z28)....Eh Vinny, this guy wants to race you". So this dude walks up and asks me if I'm stock, and I'm basically forced to list the mods I just posted before he can start thinking if it will be worth his time. Z06 guy comes over and asks me the same questions (I don't blame him though). I say, its just for fun man.

So we leave and the very first lights the three of us manage to all line up - with me in the middle of course. Light turns green, and I pull my quick boot (with just a little tire chirping), and these other guys are fucking morons - they wait a split second after I've punched it BEFORE they start smokin their tires (like this modded 13.8 Camaro is anything). Well black LS1 Z28 just gets dusted, big time, and after my first gear ran out the Z06 ripped up right next to me, and had not even one full car length on me by the time we hit 140 Kph. What are you stupid????

I'm not not really sold on 3.73's myself yet cause I love my top end freeway speeds - but I'm happy with my engine right now. I have no doubt she could pull mid 12's (at the strip) by simply adding 3.73's, a 3500 stall converter, and an aftermarket torque arm. And slicks too. I'd probably get into the low 13's with slicks right now and launching my car at the stock converters 1500 RPM limit.

And I know ALL about mods man. Trust me, my list is long as hell. I've thought of porting/polishing my stock heads/intake, buying new ones, etc... I'm basically going to wait until I have the coin to build my all-forged 383 stroker, low compression MONSTER capable of being force fed 15+ PSI from an intercooled Procharger AND a 150 HP shot of NOS - this is after I build my 12-bolt rear end, replace drivetrain, 4L80E tranny from JET, etc..........
