Rattling sound?

When ever i have the car in low gear 1st and 2nd.i start hearing a weird rattling noise as if i were dragging a chain.this mainly happens at low speeds.Have any of u ever experienced this?

I had this happen on my car. It drove me insane for months, (months because I was still new to cars at the time), but I finally got it. Most likely, your noise is your heat shield on your cat and your piping down south. Take and remove that shield, and your noise will be gone for good. Just dont drive over any tall dead grass after any sort of long drives, as you will most likely set it ablaze....good luck with that though, have fun

Was it hard to take it off.And if itake it off would it still pass he smog?Thanks alot though

If you have access to a hoist of some sort, lift your car above your head, then take a cutting torch to all the bolts that hold it on. If you dont have access to a cutting torch, the process will be harder. Since the car is more than 10 years old, the bolts might be rusted. Take a socket to break them free or get some sort of shears that can cut throgh metal, and cut the shield off. Since the shield is only a thin piece of metal on the outside of your piping, it has no affect on emissions whatsoever. Any more questions...ask away...

you can also get some of those brackets thigns used on CAI's and tighten it around it

Mine does the same damn thing. I tightened it once already, and it's rattling again. I am just putting a new exhaust on there hopefully this summer.

If you want to keep the heat sheild, just get a long hose clamp, or put two together, and wrap it around the shield and the pipe. Then just tighten it nicely and kiss the rattling goodbye.

mine did that but it was comin from the exhaust manifold. the one on my cat is fine tho
