I need to know how much your carbon fiber hood weighs? Everyone on this forum doesn't know. And the weight in lbs. of your stock hood? Don't be the guy who bought it because it looks good.

I did...I called the local Honda dealer and asked them how much a stock hood weighed for a 1997 Accord and they didn't know. My friend and I wrote an email to a few companies about it and they said that they didn't know they just order them and sell them? So we just gave up.

oh I'm not disrespectin' any of you. I just cut to the chase. Why? Because talking about things in a roundabout way is a waste of time. I wasn't demanding anything. Nor was I trying to be an ass. That was your own perception that made you think that.

carbon fiber is heaver than fiberglass, if you really want a light hood go fiberglass, if you like the way that carbon fiber looks then go for carbon fiber. my friend has a carbon fiber hood on his del sol and my fiberglass hood w/ a hood scoop feels a lot lighter than his hood. carbon fiber is a cosmetic thing, if you like the looks buy it, if you want it to be light, buy a one piece fiberglass front end from www.mmrusa.com

I'm in the process of making a all around accord. I really like the 94-97 model. It doesn't look cheap and doesn't look to large and tall like the newer ones. Or like a 1990 box. 98-up are too tall and too long (screw the 2% better aerodynamics). So I'm just making mine really light by gutting it. It's riding low (2.5 front 2.25 rear) and has the towers. And I'm looking into buying a nice engine for it. I can't afford a sports car and the insurance that goes with it. But, I can afford an Accord with a facelift. It won't ever be a super whoa so fast car, but it will run exactly how I want it to. It only has lightweight 17's not 20's and will only have two 6x9's in the rear, not 15 inch subs. No TV's or toilets in the seats. Just metal, two seats and a motor.
So i'm just in the process of lightening it up and wanted to know what parts are the lightest to do the job.
It's coming along pretty well. I'm almost at the stage where I'm looking for light plexi and lightweight bolts.
the only problem is I need to keep the headlights and wipers...so I don't run into street legal issues. Which reminds me, when I go to get it inspected I'll have to throw the horn back in.
lol...it's a pain getting dates into it too. It looks nice on the outside but you have to say someone broke into it.
