This might be a total repost, and people might have discussed these cars already, but I was just browsing the web and I came up on this article archived in Car and Driver (http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=35&article_id=2834).

What the hell's the deal with these cars costing six figures with 700+++HP running high 12's?

As a comparison, I read in another forum about a a Lancer Evo, with 1,700 dollars in mods (a lot cheaper, including car, than the ones in the article) running a 12-flat.

I know they had to use genuine street tires for this test, and traction was probably hell, but c'mon.

The funniest thing is, the only vehicle (I think) that actually lived up to the hype is a freakin' GMC Sonoma.

This is for you, DeViL:

In the company of some seriously outlandish bewinged wedges and testosterone-laced musculature of this year's competition, John Lingenfelter's GMC Sonoma pickup stood out like the proverbial turd in the punch bowl. Upright, pedestrian, and mostly stock-looking, this pickup was nonetheless the most outrageous of the group.

"Is that in the competition?" a rival asked. Yeah, buddy. How does a 0-to-60 time of 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile of 10.6 at 135 mph sound? Well, it sounds a lot like a 700-hp, 427-cubic-inch small-block engine from the Corvette C5R race car, with twin Garrett turbochargers, twin air-to-air intercoolers, and a Lingenfelter-grafted GMC Sierra Denali all-wheel-drive system. This wild-ass Sonoma sounded like 700 horses only until the road-course portion of its first run, when the four-speed automatic transmission gave up, putting it out of the show. The sight of this $137,027 beast rocketing from the starting line — its nose thrust skyward — had even competitors alternately smiling and gaping at the absurdity of the display. Lingenfelter promises to bring it back next time.

Time for a swap into your S-10, DeViL?

Yeah that bitch is like GMC Syclone part 2: The Asskicking.

I gotta a little something coming up for the S-10, it ain't no 700 hp twin turbo motor but it should be enough for now.
