i looked and searched, and i can't find this answer.
the gear shift works fine, and we lifted the hood and saw that the mech. arm IS working when we shift. However, the van will not move into any gear. won't go forward, reverse, etc... it acts like it isn't shifting.
i was driving down the highway, and noticed it wasn't excellerating and stepped on teh gas.. .and nothing. I stopped the van, put in park, turned it off. Started it again, and put in D and wouldn't go, just engine reved. then put in reverse and same thing... didn't move but engine reved. :crying:
Any ideas?
thx

> Have you checked the fluid level and condition?
> PRNDL indication accurate?
> Disconnect the negative battery cable for 2-3 minutes to reset the module (TCM).
> Drop the fluid pan. If you see debris greater that the normal fuzz on the magnets you'll likely need a new tranny.

fluid level full.
PRNDL is accurate even on ODB11 shows it 'changing' gears.
will try that thank you.
will try that.. .thank you.

Sounds like you have an A-604 electronic 4-spd tranny, which came on V-6 engines (recall 4 cyl was gone by 2002). I am confused about the "lever under the hood" you refer to. I thought shifter on the steering column was simply an electronic input, like a mouse on a computer. Does it actually move something under the hood?
