Check you CKP a.k.a. your crank position sensor, or TDC sensor. This is the only sensor that will keep you from getting any pulse to your coil.
You had to have disconnected it to remove your tranny, so you may have not reconnected it.

Good luck!

I have an 88 with the same problem. I Cleaned the IAC last Monday and it ran. I then changed the plugs and it hasn't started since. There's no power to the coil. I checked the Crank Shaft Position sensor like it says to do in Haynes and I recieve continuity between A and B. Haynes says there should be no continuity so I got a new CKP. I checked the continuity of the new CKP and it too has continuity between A and B so I haven't installed it. If you got yours running, can you let me know what it needed?
