Hey i've heard a whole lot about limited slip differential transvers onto civic chassis so i figure it must do something nice, but... i still don't know what the heck one does, and how it will help my car be faster or easier to controll, or just more fun. please someone fill hook me up. do i really need LSD. or is LSD only for the hard core.

:boink: well you see....most cars only have one driving tire... and so when you take off usual only one tire peels out..with LSD does it reconizges only one tires is slipping giving power to the other tires...which leaves less peeling out and more grip :bigthumb:

lsd differential allows torque to be used when another wheel has lost traction, otherwise with a regular differential you will lose your torque through the slipping wheel.

LSD's have nothing to do with torque, but simply with power delivery to both wheels at the same time. When cornering, it will deliver less power to one of the wheels in order to facilitate better cornering, but not to the same extent as an open diff (hence the term "limited").

LSD's do not "recognise" anything unless they are like the ITR's ECU controlled LSD. For a 4th gen, you simply get a LSD that does its job and delivers power.

Oh, and it's not mounted to the chassis - it belongs in the gearbox
