Checking the ECU

I drive a 1988 Acura Integra 1.6l DOHC blah blah blah blah, you know the car.
Don't know much about the ECU, but need to know if it's operating correctly. I assume it is because the car is running, but I thought the LED on the ECU was supposed to blink to let you know it was operating. Mine, as you guessed, is not blinking at all. I reset the ECU for lack of any better ideas. Haven't swapped with another ECU, but really I'm not sure if that's necessary. There don't seem to be any performance issues I just want to be sure that if one of the sensors go off I'll know about it. So, how can I check the ECU to make sure it is functioning properly.
Thanks for the help

Is your check engine light coming on? If not than what makes you think somethings wrong? Unless your check engine light comes on than there should be nothing to worry about. I did'nt even know that OBD0 ecu's even had an led. My OBDI doesn't have one.

No the CEL isn't coming on, but that's just the point, I'm not sure if the ECU is functioning properly to even turn on the CEL. Shouldn't the LED blink once every three seconds or so to indicate that the ECU is on? I thought I remember reading that in a Chilton's manual at one time or another.
But, yeah, the OBD0s do have LEDs, which, to my knowledge, was pretty advanced for the time.
Thanks for the help, I'm not too worried but just want to make sure everything's peachy under the hood.
