neons inside an mx3

I have a friend that just purchased neon lighting kits for his mx3. He bought the kind that plug into the lighter but wants to convert those into a toggle controlled system. is this possible, if so how would he go about doing that?

most neon lighting is powered by a 12volt system. the only 12 volt system in a car worth using is the car lighter...take the car apart and splice the power wires powering the car lighter, and cut off the adaptor end of your lights. this will save the need for a resistor, i did this for mine. then somewhere in any of the neon lighting power lines put in a switch and mount it anywhere...mine is on the cener console where the seat heating button should be. enjoy!
