i am planning to make a rear body kit for my ITR but a little more exagerated. i was planing to cut out a rectangular piece out of the stock body kit, then bending a paiece of styrene so it curves inward. also making the little fins that come down out of styrene then filling everything in with bondo or whatver.........does this sound like it will work? i have never done body work like this b4. can you tell me what you would do?.........and what kind of puddy would be best for this job?

If I were you I'd make the whole bumper with out the fins first with putty.
Then make the fins out of styrene, glue them on, then fill gaps, sand, ect.

I don't think bondo will be the best choice but if it's the only thing use it.
I would suggest Tamiya quick type epoxy putty or milliput (I use the terrocotta putty from milliput)
Ive used these two putty's and one thing you have to remeber is you should knead them very well.

How to ...Build your own body kit.
1.Perpare a pill of water and wet your fingers. Make sure all your fingers must be always wet, if not the putty will stuck on your finger.
2.Use plastic card/ Styrene card to make the shape you wish the body to look.
3.Put epoxy putty on your body with water.
4.Rub the surface of the epoxy putty to smoothen the surface.
5.Leave dry.
6.Use pencil to draw out the shape you want.
7.Sand it down with diamond files set.
8.Use Commerial water-proof sandpaper 220 grade. (Grey surface)
9.Prime it with surfacer primer to check mistake. It may be hole and uncovered surface or line that cause by sandpaper.
10. Continue step 7, 8 and 9 until surface are smooth.
11.Ready to spray your color.
Have fun.:D

Thats the same style rear that I'm doing for my 350Z. I cut out a big rectangle in the back, and used milliput to lower and reshape the sides of the original bumper. I'm working on the inward curved sheet of syrene now. The only problem that I've ran into is having enough room to make a decent amount of curve and still have room for the stock exaust.
I'll try and get pics up as soon as I can find someone with a digicam.

well, i am planing on putting the inward curve in then glueing the fins on and putty-ing them to make it look smooth.
