No fuel pressure?

First of all, hi to all 'cause this is my very first post! :D Well, talking about cars, I've got a 1996 2.2L Cavalier. I bought this car in 1999 and it didn't gave much problems until a few months ago. First, the fuel pump failed (it was the original) and I got a new one from GM. It was the exact same fuel pump. After that, the car didn't build much fuel pressure and now I have to pump with the gas pedal to help 'er start. I'm guessing this is not normal, so what's wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance! :bigthumb:

have you checked the fuel filter?

you should replace it every 10,000 miles according to gm mantenance
schedule.

secodnly i think you might have a larger problem that the fuel pump.

I agree with sol. When you get it checked out, I would be interested to know if maybe the fuel pressure regulator is the culprit also..
