My engine makes a tick tick sound.its very loud when it idles. What could it be.The engine is in great condition.I do a full maintence every month(friend works a Grease monkey).Could it be that i need to adjust my valves and if so how hard is it.And also around how much would it cost?

i think an average valve adustment would be around 90 bucks... that's what it costs here at a Honda dealership with certified Honda techs.

im a certified honda mechanic, and i say do it yourself. all you need is a feeler gauge, a flathead screwdriver, and a modified open end/box end wrench or crows foot wrench.

just turn the motor to TDC compression stroke for each cylinder, and check the clearance on the cam lobes. specs are in haynes, helms, or honda service manuals.

It may not be valve adjustment. Sometimes they just got noisy even when adjusted. I get a ticking from my motor at idle and you can hear the injectors through the firewall unless the stereo is up :)

my far left cylinder doesn't fire really....unlike the rest of them. Bambam told me that it sounds like a freaking go cart driving around.

Either the tappets or lost motion sensors.
