Airbag detector

Hello AF Members:
I would like to either buy, or build, a tool that detects airbags in cars to make sure they are not deployed, are in place, and are ready to deploy in the case of a collision.
After doing some research, I've determined it's largely nitrogen gas that inflates them, so would getting a nitrogen gas detector allow me to check the airbags as I have described above, without the safety risk of deploying them?
Any input and advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Best Regards,

Hello autowoman,
Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I was thinking more along the lines of a "sniffer" of sorts to detect whether or not the airbags are actually there. That way, someone can't screw with the computer, and say they are really there, but they aren't.
Thank you!
