Camry salesperson did not laud the safety features of the new 2014 too much. The window sticker seemed (to me) to include quite a few. I am puzzled by the term "SST" on the sticker. Can you clarify this for me. I am looking for a lower priced new car with more safety features for my advancing years; I notice my reaction times, etc. have slowed somewhat and while still safe on the road, I could use the help I am sure. Have 2010 Corolla now and like it; may well keep it for another year.

From Toyota.com:
Smart Stop Technology® (SST) is designed to automatically reduce engine power when both the brake and accelerator pedals are pressed at the same time under certain conditions.
Sounds like a good idea. It may be to prevent runaway cars if the ECM thinks you are pressing on the gas pedal when you really aren't. This is a potential problem with the fly-by-wire throttle (no mechanical throttle linkage, only electronic).

A Smart-Stop brake override feature is also new, making it impossible for the car to accelerate with the brake pedal depressed,
