Hey man, props on the tight interior, btw, was it hard to remove your dsah and all that business? I'm in the middle of painting all my interior but I don't know if I should just keep my dash inside and paint it inside or if I should mess with it and try to remove it. Let me know if it is worth it if all I'm going to do is paint. Thanks man, again, tight interior, way to represent.

it is worth it to take it out. overspray is annoying. by the way, the only thing painted is the vents and around the radio and AC, everything else is wrapped! damn that stuff was a pain, now onward to the doors!

sick interior dude, i love it, see an imperfection with the vinyl tho, i know how hard it is 2 use that shit, leather is MUCH easier 2 deal with  hehe, but good job man, i worked at an interior shop, u saved urself like 400 bux or more in labour right there, :bigthumb: cant wait 2 see it finished, btw... what steering wheel is that?? i want one hehe

only one? theres a lot more than that! you are right, that stuff is tough, i wasnt originally gonna put red suede in the pocket by the ebrake handle, but i blew through the vinyl with the heat gun trying to stretch it a little too much, so i hadda make that pimp lil red area to cover it up

thats my stepdads. i dont drink. but i did help him make that. the keg in the pic is the old empty one, the good one is in the fridge staying cold. and the freezer is full of frosty mugs! notice the bottle behind the empty keg, my stepdad loves his michelob draft.

a side note, the entire center console was wrapped using one piece of black vinyl. which means, no more funky seam between the original civic piece and the GSR piece. that wrinkle between the two GSR pieces is cause its sitting on the ground, it tightens out when its in the car.

thats a baddass interior. When i start my job i was sposed to start 2 weeks ago in construction, im gettin the exterior done for this summer. And right after that. Im going all out on my interior like yer dash. No vinyl. All velour.. that suede or however its spelled.. Is that kinda just like velvet but more durable for your car interior ? like does it feel just as smooth and all that ?? Cuz im doing a show car type int. And i want it all ( besides carpet and floor mats of course ) somin similar to that silk feeling. Doing mine in red black and white. Your car is gonna look dope tho for real. Good job. And tell yer GF nice job w/ the shift boot. And nice job 2 u 2 yo - !

its called ultra suede. its all over ebay, and i got it there for 75 bucks. i got like 40 yards. if you go to a cloth store its like 75 bucks a yard!!

the stuff is not extremely thick, but it is tuff. i had trouble cutting it sometimes, like in tight squeezes. its soft too, and depending on which way you brush your hand across it, it can look matte or gloss.

I too have colour coded my interior like you, but not to the extent you have, I've just done the painted bits, yours looks awesome!! Well done!

EF You
06-11-2003, 11:48 AM
its not simple color coding, theres not a single piece of interior that is still the original material, except for the A/C vents and around the radio, since i just painted those pieces red. wherever the plastic was smooth, i painted it, wherever it had that nasty textured look, i wrapped it in vinyl or suede. thanks for the praise though.

yes thats an ITR steering wheel, JDM even, MOMO even, hows that for hip?

how did you get the integra center console to fit so nicely in the back with your original bezel?

EF You
11-09-2003, 11:03 PM
i trimmed the back of the integra console to match up, then wrapped the entire assembly in one piece of black vinyl. both integra pieces and the original civic piece are now one large piece.

Sorry Incucivic, but I'm just not feeling that interior. I know that it must have taken a ton of time and I really respect all your hard work, but it just doesnt please my eye, not that it matters, as long as you like it. I really like the teg console though. Im just more of a fan of stock plastic, with very few, if any, color changes.

i appreciate your response more than siz's, mostly because you gave reasons for you opinion. opinions are welcome, as long as they give some insight. i dont appreciate opinions where someone says "ghey" or "thats stupid" but fail to give reasons why. im glad you respect the time put into it, and the more i look at it i do think about painting black the red A/C vents (that was parts carried over from my last hatch). as far as stock plastic, i didnt mind the color of it so much, but the texture was killing me, it looked and felt too cheap. and thats precisely why i covered the entire thing in smooth black vinyl.

You guys can sometimes be such crybabys if everyone doesn't like your shit. WHAAA. Thats the way it is, especially building a car thats' mostly for looks, you're gonna get a lot of people hating on it. Why? Because it looks cheap. Why did I give the thumbsdown and not post what I actually feel about it? To spare feelings, but then you and some other guy go whining about what I did. Why care what I think?

Okay, the spraypainted plastic looks like shit. Always has, always will. It looks cheap, it doesn't even colour match whatever that nasty looking material you have all over the console. All that vinyl and all that suede or whatever it is, also looks cheap, you can see all the folds in it and shit.. Hmmm, did you try and save money (unlike people who do it right and pay someone who's a professional at it) and do it yourself? All that red in your car its gonna look like you work for McDonalds or something. Sorry, but I think your interior is pug fugly.
There's my opinion. Next time I'll just post a thumbsdown and you get get over it fast.

I think your steering wheel is pretty nice if that makes any difference.

like i said before, i appreciate your opinion more now that youve given reasons that you dislike it. and like i said, ive been thinking about painting the red pieces black, but i have no plans on changing the red suede. and i dunno if youve ever noticed, but even professional jobs have folds in them. you can only stretch it so much. yeah i wanted to save money and do it myself, much in the same way you wanted to paint the roof of your car black (which i gave you props for even when other people dissed you). also in the same way you did an engine swap and whatnot, because i am also doing the same thing. i will take more pride in doing the car 100% myself and having nothing perfect on it than to pay professionals to do it all and winning a car show or a race simply because i spent money. sure its got flaws, but maybe next time i do interior work it will come out better. remember that even professionals start somewhere, usually on their own car.

again, i appreciate you voicing your opinion, because thats the reason i posted the pictures afterall. just saying you dont have to be a total nutsack when you post your opinion. and for the one person who dislikes it(which i dont mind) theres at least 30 people on here who love it.

well i guess it's not rice enough for some, i like it but as you know dude i'm broke as shit now and don't even have a decent car to tune, however, just scored a nice job 40hrs a week @ $7.50 hr. and they planning on givving me a raise in a little while too :smokin: i get paid friday and i'm going to be heading to neworleans anyway this weekend. lemme know what's up.
