Disc Brake Problem: Frequent Scoring.

Our Sebring Jxi convertible (2000) has four wheel disc brakes, however, I find that one or more rotors score(deeply scratched) fairly often(within a few month's time) right now the left rear is scored. What causes this and how can I prevent it? The score is approximately 1/8th of an inch deep, and about 1/4 inch in width. Thanks.

you might want to rise your brakes everytime you wash your car, or its cheap rotors. I think GM cuts corners on the braking aspect of their cars iirc, but as long as the scoring isnt too significant it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

it gets to be a pretty big problem, when it goes un-noticed

Hmm. Then I wousld suggest trying to find a good set of quality aftermarket rotors and brake pads. Might run some $$ but should last longer, and perhaps even provide a little better braking too.
