Tamiya wish list?

Ok, so I'm really only thinking aloud here, and I truly hope I don't bore you too much.

See, I have a 1/12 Tamiya 934 Porsche, and without upsetting the motorsport fraternity here, it will NOT be getting built as a race car. :headshake
A road going (street registered) version is going to require plenty of modification, aside from the mods I have planned for it. :evillol:
The interior will still feature the roll cage, so that doesn't bother me, though I will probably modify it in some way.

The "race bred" motor will also fill the need, with the addition of an extra turbo. :grinyes:
But I've been thinking, with the popularity of these race kits, I wonder why Tamiya has never thought of making a road version. :dunno:

Now, that question may raise some eyebrows, because I guess not everyone would want a road version?
BUT, would it be that big a task for them to undertake?

Aside from tooling up some interior parts like seats, there would not be all that much else to add.
They already have a more "stock" looking motor in the guise of the 910 race car, it at least has the fuel injection, rather than turbo.

The thing that kicked my thought train was that, they have done this very thing in 1/24 scale. The Porsche GT2. Race version, road version.
Admittedly, a road going 911/930 may need a few more "creature comforts" compared to a GT2, but I still ask myself.....why not?

In recent times Tamiya have proved to themselves and us, that they are not afraid to re-release some of the older large scale kits, heck, they even tooled up a couple of NEW kits for us, the Ferrari and Porsche supercars. :eek7:

I'd even be happy if they tooled up a 1/12 GT2 to be different. :smokin:
But right now, I would settle for an updated 930 filled with streetable trimmings.
Thank you Mr Tamiya.

Doyusha produced a 1/12 Porsche 911 turbo, not sure of the specific year or quality of the kit, but if you look outside of Tamiya there are some other 1/12 kits out there worth considering if you don't mind a little extra work.

I'd produce more Aston kits - race and road cars. Maybe do some Mercedes C-class, BMW 3 Series, etc road and race cars.

a 1/24 model of the MPR14 pajero evo with PE parts :)

(so okay, that's an obvious response from me LOL)

and for some reason, i'd like to see tamiya make a 1/12 version of Kaneda's bike from Akira.

Yeah, an Aston LM car would be nice from Tamiya. I myself can't justify spending the $250+ on a MFH kit, and I've always loved the way the DBR9 kits looked.

LA Ferrari in 1/12 per favore.

Btw, the1/24 road version of the 993 gt2 has a lot of mistakes to make a real "road version" of the RSR.I had to build one for a friend owning a real one and the difference to fix have been a real nightmare (first of all the completely different magnesium wheels...)

with your incredibly high skill there is no needing at all for any new tamiya model in big scale :)

I wish someone - ANYONE.... would make a kit of the Jaguar XK8.
A real icon, and turning point for Jaguar.
It's also an 'unsung hero' as the design starting point for a HUGE number of modern sports GT cars.
Many current GT's wouldn't look like they do, if it wasn't for the XK8.
Sadly overlooked.

Roy.

How about vw's like the notchback, fasback, etc.? A 914/6 wouldn't hurt either!

Porsche 935 K3 in 1/24
Porsche 911 (993) GT2 in 1/12,
Ferrari 288 GTO in 1/12 (as kit)

I really want Tamiya to make a 2004 Land Rover Discovery kit or even a Discovery 1. I think they'd sell big time. They are a unique SUV and would be a nice addition to their Land Cruiser kit.

I'd also like to see them make a Masterati MC12 or a 1/24 scale Corvette like a 2011 or newer.

BIG SECOND on a 1/12 Ferrari THEFerrari. I'll preorder the damn thing the instant it's available to do so.

May I also humbly point out (again) that arguably the most desirable of Tamiya's 1/12 diecast series is yet to be converted to a full assembly kit: the 288 GTO.

Skipping that one would be a Shakespearian tragedy. Biblical, even.

Bring back the 1/12 Caterhams, and give me a Porsche 356 in the same scale and I'll be a happy man

Some Le Mans prototypes, the late Audis and the Toyota hybrids would make me happy.
I am the type of guy who still think an Audi R8 is a Le Mans racer and not a street car... bring me that R8 and I would be beyond happy. :naughty:

You know Tamiya is going to do the 288 in 1/12. Already got my budget set aside for it. I hope they'll do LaFerrari in 1/12, probably first as a diecast, then model. Hopefully they'll realize that model version shouldn't cannibalize their diecast sales. Same car, but different markets.

I've lost all faith in Tamiya as a model manufacturer. Their release of recent race cars (saloons) is abysmal and they can't even turn old model kits into new different versions. The last rally car model was the Peugeot 307 in 2006 and nothing since. Fortunately other smaller manufacturers have stepped up to the mark ie Belkits and their products are excellent.

The Tamiya BRZ model is only a boring road car and well over priced at that.

No interest in Ferrari's I've never seen the attraction in them!

I so agree. If they do LaFerrari in 1/12 and 288 GTO in 1/12, I'm in. Now, I just need to get the 1/12 Carrera GT done before Toledo...:naughty:

A Bugatti Veyron would be a good subject for Tamiya given its resources, the fact that it likes making high end, notably super cars, and the various versions of the car.

Another genre I'd like to see them revisit is off road bikes - enduro mx and adventure.

A 1/6 scale Yamaha XTZ1200 would be right up my alley:)

Uh, scratch what I said earlier. Having now seen it in its fully finished glory, and taken a vicarious ride by video as it cracked a 7-minute lap at the Green Hell - damn thing just chewed up and shat out the karussell, and the driver dialed in some opposite lock maybe twice -

we NEED this muddafuggah. Both scales please. :iceslolan

1/12 Ferrari F40 which seems like such an obvious choice. A Pagani, Jag XKE, Duesenberg, Aston DB5, and Mercedes Gullwing are all iconic cars deserve nice kit.

If it has to be closed wheel, then McLaren F1/F1-GTR and Ferrari F40 GTE/LM in 1/12 scale for me.
That would be my longest and biggest dreams come true.

In open wheel, I would like to see Tamiya continue with FW15C and FW16 in 1/12 scale. Those were
great looking cars, before high noses had taken over. I never got to like high nose designs despite
all these years since 1994.

I would LOVE to have the Aston Martin DBR9 GTE of late Allan Simonsen:

The Z4 looked good and different, why not build an M4 based on that design instead of this car? It looks like a larger M3.
