I have an 87 supra 7mge 5 speed. Over the past 2 weeks it has been getting doggier and doggier. It doesn't want to accel very well or rev over 3 grand. I had driven it for about 45 minutes one day and it got very very worse and the CEL popped on. I checked the code and it had 14 and 21, in the order. I read a little about that 14 is the ignition igniter module and 21 is the oxygen sensor.
The back story. It has an aftermarket A/F gauge and it worked fine until the wire came undone from the previous owner. I drove it a while like that but didn't realize that the oxygen sensor wasn't connected at all. oops. They just cut the harness side of the connector and looped the wire from the gauge in. I didn't have time for a proper fix so I used a wire nut to reconnect it for a couple days. The aftermarket gauge would work for about 10 minutes of drive time and then slowly get closer to lean and then turn off and not work. when the car cooled back down it would work again but then shut off.
Have I ruined the oxygen sensor by not having it connected and running the engine? It was using a ton of gas and getting terrible mileage. Is there a way to check the igniter to rule that out? The car still runs and is driveable but will not hardly pick up speed. The car will not rev over 3 grand even sitting at a stop. It sounds like it is flooding and cant burn all the gas. If I ease into the throttle and rev it, it will climb to 3 1/2 and almost 4 but doesn't sound good at all. Also I have a lot of noise coming out of my intake and cone filter. It almost sounds like and exhaust now :S
I tried starting it a couple days later but thee is no spark. I found the igniter was from a gen 2 supra. I had an extra from an 88 and installed it but I still don't have spark. Where should I start looking? Could the timing have jumped?

1. Check the coolant temperature sensor.
2. Replace the HO2 sensor.
3. Check ignition parts and wiring, from battery to plugs. Anything except DENSO or NGK are suspect. Nothing else is reliable.
Both have an effect on mixture.

The plugs and wires look good. I replaced the cap and rotor 500 miles before this happened. I replaced the O2 sensor with a known good one. I replaced the igniter and coil from a parts car but I am unsure if it was good or not. I will be replacing the temp sensor b/c it is only $10. The coil isn't too bad to replace but the igniter is 100-200 off ebay and over $500 from the dealer. I should still be getting some kind of spark though. is there a testing procedure for the igniter and coil?

I pulled a known good igniter and coil off a car and put it on mine but still got no spark. After a while looking I found a wire had come out of the plastic connector. I plugged it back in and the car now starts.
The problem.............. it still will not rev over 3 grand and sounds like a weed eater coming out of the intake filter. It also runs very rough at idle.
I replaced the oxygen sensor and coolant temp sensor.
Can anyone help me?
