Do you know what to do if your vehicle begins to “overheat” while driving?

This can actually be a very serious problem. When a vehicle overheats for too long, it can result in serious engine damage.

If your vehicle does begin to overheat, it is imperative that you find a safe location to pull off the road then shut off your engine promptly. Avoid checking the fluid levels in the radiator as this can result in burns from hot steam escaping. The best thing you can do at this point is to have your vehicle towed to your nearest mechanic.

A number of factors can lead to overheating. The most common cause for overheating is low coolant levels, particularly during summer months, congested traffic, and long drives. If you frequently drive in areas where you would not be able to receive immediate help from an auto engine repair (http://www.b-bauto.com/index.php?page_name=Engine%20Repair&page_id=115&page_type=Content&id=106) center, make it a point to carry a tool kit and some coolant in your vehicle.

Another cause for the engine overheating is a blocked Thermostat.
This will prevent the coolant from entering the radiator so it can be cooled properly.
