Major troubles figuring this one out. I have a 94 s-10 4.3 v6 TBI automatic with overdrive (4L60E). I bought this to fix for my son. I've had the tranny rebuilt, replaced the coil, distributor, ignition module, TPS, computer, and reset the timing. I don't get any codes but i still get a hesitation when accelerating, and I can get into 2nd gear if I shift manually. Otherwise the tranny won't shift at all. Any ideas out there? I'm at my wits end.:banghead:

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Any codes?
Check engine lights?
Check transmission and engine computers for codes?
Post back code no.
How did you set timing?
Timing is not adjustable with the flat top dist.

having this vehicle a few years sold last year on 5 sp vin Z V6 TBI , the plugs wires must be of the correct resistance. also run the wires as OEM. next make sure you have NO VACUUM leaks. check all hoses. I would also replace the ECT intake manifold temp sender/switch. replace the fuel filter as well. vehicle has a steel tank not good with alcohol fuels.

the transmission not upshifting you should bring back to the repair shop that re-built it.

only first and reverse the tranny pressures need checking.

No lights and no codes. Timing was set by unplugging the single connect wire that is in the panel under the glove box from the computer and setting it to TDC. I understand that the computer (once its plugged back in) will electronically adjust it to the proper setting from there.

Can the VSS be bad and cause it not to shift and the speedo still work?

Ok, think I got the tranny figured. Replaced the internal wiring harness and it shifts now. Still have a problem in the running though. Sometimes its hard to start and won't always hold an idle. When it does though, it purrs. No codes present. Parts replaced listed below:

IAC
TPS
TBI gasket
Ignition coil
Distributor
Ignition module
MAP
EGR vacuum solenoid
Coolant temperature sensor
Fuel filter
Computer
and checked for vacuum leaks

Thanks

Start with a good fuel pressure test.
And check when it is acting up.
Check both pressure and volume and how goo gas is.
When no start is it getting good hot spark to all plugs.

check the TBI injector resistance. also how the 2 injectors are spraying. wiring is a common problem with these . could also need cleaning. bad fuel pump/wiring also.
