Had a new Compressor Drier, Tensioner and belt installed 3 days ago and the system worked great until today. In transit I heard a sound almost like a paper bag being popped then smelt the freon smell and the ac stopped blowing cold air. Any ideas what that could be? I have a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 engine with rear air.

Sounds like a seal or line blew out. Possible the high pressure relief valve on the back of the compressor popped open also. Look on the compressor for a/c oil/dye. Will be all over the place. Also, if there is a pressure switch on the back of the compressor, the retaining ring may not have been completely seated and the switch blew out of it.

There was a fluid all over the place when I looked around the compressor. Is this typically an easy fix? Just spent a bunch of money replacing it all and very bummed over it happening.

Need to find out for sure where the leak was from. Some of the relief valves were replaceable, some were not.

Did you possibly overcharge the system?

too much refrigerant will do this . if you did all this work what was the high side pressures when charging the system @2000rpm. if this was not done and you charged on / in cooler temps you can very easily over charge.

as mentioned could be anything. I would add a can of regrigerant and look for leakage system off 1ST. then is necessary start system and find the leak.

you got a new seal kit ? also you must use refrigerant mineral oil on the seals not PAG 150 !
