Have you programmed a fob for this before? Do you know if this can be done manually, or does it need a scan tool?

As Jcat asked, are the numbers on the back of the fobs, the SAME?

try this procedure.
1. Close all vehicle doors.

2. Insert the key into the ignition.
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold
down until instructed to release in step 9.
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the
engine).
6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock
the doors automatically.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until
the door locks and unlocks.
This step may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing
transmitters).
12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming
mode.

Thanks j cat but already tried that procedure...ill try it again maybe I'm not turning the key far enough or at the right consistency. When I do it the door locks don't lock and unlock letting me know I'm in the program mode. So I dunno....and I did cross reference the fob part numbers to make sure I had the right one. And it is the first year of the new model but I've read of other people with the same model using the procedure that you posted and it works for them which makes me think I shouldn't need a scanner and there might be a problem elsewhere in the system. Thanks in advance for any help!

I did this procedure on my 2000 SiLverado. for some reason MY FOB stopped working. never found out why . but when I followed this procedure it did work BUT I had to do it a few times to get this to work.

If the remote receiver is bad would that cause the truck not to go into program mode?

If the vehicle is one made for the Canadian market you will need a scan tool to program it . It also could be the receiver . make sure the batteries in the remote are good. you may have to go to the dealership.

that means a person with the programer tool will need be called upon to program it. call around repair shops first for non dealership to program all your remotes.

didn't think your location would have a Canadian market vehicle. make sure you use this info on part replacements on other items.
