The rear wheels look awkward with the fenders so much wider...I would say get new fatter rear rims, but those are nice Lotus rims...maybe cut back the fenders some?

yeah the fenders were from the wong series car, i think they are 13 inch fenders, and we're putting the 9's back on

sorry it's been so long since i updated this, the project is still going, but... on hold for a bit longer. the mr2 took its spot in the workshop... and it's almost done!!! then... BACK TO THE 7!!! :D
reasoning for the mr2 getting done first: my dad's gonna kick my butt racing with the 7, so i need a head start on learning how the mr2 reacts so i stand a chance autoXing and on the track.
that and... i wanted a car that could be nationally competitave. :naughty:

Very nice! I should have taken a look at this earlier.
If you need an genuine Lotus parts that you can't source in the US give me a PM, I can source them here through the Local Agent (Iv done some work for him, and know him pretty well).
Also, GET RID OF THE DRUMS ON THE FRONT! They will kill you.
All the orginal Lotus 7's used Cortina, or Triumph Spitfire Discs on the front, they are an easy conversion onto the existing stup axles (which should be Cortina, or Herald depending on the drums, the up right Should be Herald though).
My Kit Car has Drums on the front, and they will be the first thing to change if I start rebuilding it. After having them over heat, and completely fail going down a twisty hill I will never drive with them again.
It looks like its going to be a fun rebuild though, having a complete car to start with makes it a lot easier.
And I won't tell you what those Lotus rims are worth! but its alomst as much as the car :D

lol, well as far as i know, the car is 100% origonal, and will probably remain that way. my dad bought it when he was 21, dominated the local solo scene and clung to the butt of his friend's 289 cobra on the road course stuff out here. i've been trying to convince him he needs discs instead, but he just says "they've always been more than enough to stop the car"...though we do have some spares from the gt6. anyway... just waiting on one last part for the 2.
and moppie, i didn't know that you had a 7 kit!

Thats because its not a 7 kit :)
I nearly bought a Series 4 7 many years ago, but was unable to afford the running costs at the time, so Bought a Lynx Twin Cam kit instead. Its about the same size and style as a 7, but uses a Herald chassis with the rails turned inside out, and a toyota engine and g/box.
Unforunatly it also used the Herald diff, which died from the toyotas hp. The car is currently mostly dissassembled waiting for me to either sell it, or get some money together to rebuild it with a proper diff (datsun 180b LSD), some real brakes, and a 4agze with blower.

How's the project going? i haven't seen many updates lately. I really want to see how that 7 drives! I'm thinking about building a car for autocross, but it'd probably be rear engine. Where can you find 7s?

you can buy a Caterham 7 Roadsport SV kit for like, 28k extra 7k for zetec motor and tranny. This is the predecessor to the Lotus 7 i believe. saw it in a mag check out www.caterhamusa.com , damn sweet car Super 7

caterham was a lotus distributor in the 70's and took over the super 7 body style when lotus decided to move on to newer projects. the first lotus super seven came out in the early 50's.

I have been thinking of getting one of the caterham kits of the super seven but I see that on the UK site you can get sections of the kit at a time. This will be better for me because of the extensive changes that I have planed for the kit. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has worked with them in something like this or should I call them and find out? Anyway I will post more when I start to advance on my plans… anyway all I can say now is some slight body modifications, and major chassis modifications to handle the twin turbo engine and six speed tyranny.

/sigh, no mechanical updates, college keeps me too busy to help as does the need for a practical car (hachi project)
got tires for the lotus though :D so that's a "get it done faster" item... as we really want to burn them up now :D
