Well seeing as others are giving updates to their project I might as well too.
First off the kit has been sitting around for about 2 years opened and in a closet. I guess there was some moisture in there because the decal sheet was slightly stuck to the bottom of the box. Some of my decals are arsed. It's not terrible but there are a couple that have 'spots' where there were ripped off. I might just get a different decal sheet and start on the Cooper Mini till then. Or I might just say screw it and finish up. Suggestions?
Second I'm about to finish the bottom of the chassis and I was pushing the rear wheels on. One was being stubborn and as I was giving slightly more and more pressure....SNAP. Axle broke! http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/s/ups/dvx_rune/grumble.gif
Little repair job later I'm not quite done but I need to wait for the glue to dry. I'll post my progress when I get the rear suspenion finished.

Sucks about the axle. :( I did that with one of the A pillars on my NSX, but you can't tell now. :)

The model is coming along quite well, OK actually. I've leant a lot from this model, one thing is that I need to use my air brush and masking more. The airbrush kind of scares me. :uhoh: Then I should just be using the brush on very fine details.
The next model I do is a cheep Revel Mini Cooper. I'll be trying to airbrush as much as I can. I bought it for that reason. It should give me more pratice spraying and masking.

Thanks. Yeah I am glad. Although I see how you did that STi so fast though. Compared to the number of parts and detail in the roll cage, undercarrage, wheels, decals, etc in the Corolla the STi looks like a childs toy.
But I like how it seem you're getting no where just painting, touching up and cutting parts, then all of a sudden the whole thing comes together in practially a couple hours. :D:D Race cars take some time...

This decal gave the hardest time so far!
It's split and needs to over lap itself to fit correctly but I couldn't get it positioned right AND looking good at the same time! :angryfire :angryfire
VERY annoying and it looks like shit to boot.

Iu se stuff called "microset"....it softens the decal up real good to help you out.
When there are bits like that, that you know will be hard to get around tight places etc, i get the water a bit hotter to help soften the decal more.
Brush the MS on to the model then slide the decal on to the model. Be extra careful as the decal will now be easy to rip because of the hotter water. Place it on then brush it with MS.
Keep doing it over and over till it starts it sit down well.
If you are still having promblem's, i bring out the "BIG WEAPON" !!!
A hair dryer !!!!
Use the hairdryer on warm to help you get the decal to set down. Dont get to close !!!....this really works well.
Even with yours that are not sitting down now....i'd wet them again on the model and try the hair dryer trick.

Yeah, myself and Warren both came from the same school of decal placement!
As what he said! In fact, I don't think I would attempt a decal job like that without Microset!
I used it on mine, and you can see the results!
I sprayed my sills, I knew the decal wouldn't cover it well, and it was easy to spray!
But a slice with a sharp scalpel and some microset would solve your problems!:D

Overall I'm happy with it. There are some problems with it and I still need to finish drawing in the panel lines. I need to buy a new pen tip.
Like I said before I learned a lot on this. I bought some Mr. Mark Softer and used it on my last decal and it works really well. :) I'll be using this on my next car a lot.
So enough of this here my second complete auto model I've ever done. :D

I decided to just color in the under armor. :)
I know the center orange section is supposed to be flat aluminum but I can't be arsed to take it apart and fix it. Maybe when I dismantel it in a couple years to do the redecaling. ;)
BTW does HLJ sell 1/24 carbon/kevelar/fiber decal sheets? I couldn't find it.

Nice work, Jason. Very well done indeed! :flash:
Here's what HLJ has:
Carbon Fiber Decal (Fine pattern; 120 x 170mm) (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ11024)
Carbon Kevlar Decal (Fine pattern; 120 x 170mm) (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ11023)
Carbon Fiber Decal (Coarse pattern; 120 x 170mm) (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ11014)
Carbon Kevlar Decal (Coarse pattern; 120 x 170mm) (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ11013)
No pics, though.
As for your rapidiograph, when you go to get a new tip, look for fine tip pens by the brand "Micron" made by the company "Sakura." I have some in black, blue and red with 005 tips, and they're like .20mm or something. Not quite as precise as the rapidiograph, but pretty darn close. :)
