Hi Guys!

I am in the middle of changing out the upper and lower intake of our 3.8L 1995 Transport. Leaking returned at upper intake near throttle body.

2 problems so far. (1) There are 2 temperature sensors on the lower intake manifold. Are they the same? The rear broke when removing it. ( is the rear one for over-temp, engaging additional cooling fan?)

(2)The heater tube at the intake does not want to budge. It may have been JB welded by dealer?... Does not look right. I am replacing the lower intake due to the heli-coil insert used at the thermostat from a friend snapping off an easy out. Can I get another heater tube. Thanks KEV

After a search, I broke the plastic housing for the temp sender that goes to the gauge. I am checking Rock auto, and I guess that the sensors are the same?
Having trouble finding the heater pipe that is installed in the intake manifold.
I may have to cut the pipe and get another. Is there a part available? Got to get the van repaired on this sunday if possible..:banghead:

If I remember right there were two temp sensors....one had a single green wire, for the gauge....the other had two, yellow and black, for the ECM.....

The 3.8 in the van was different from the 3.8 in cars....having a hard time visualizing this tube....have a picture?

Thanks for responding Tech II.

I bought a new temp sensor that I installed from the broken brittle one that fed the signal for the gauge.

The metal tube was a real S.O.B. getting out. Putting it back in was almost as difficult because the tube was slightly bent. I thanks my wife's grand father that made forged iron tools. He was a blacksmith. Never met him, but he saved me more than a few times.

Hopefully, I can get this miserable job done sometime today. Cheers Kev
