Power steering LOW pressure return hose

I have a leak in the PS low pressure hose can I just cut the bad piece out and put a piece of hose and double clamps or does this side have pressure too. I did see that the hose has regular clamps on it all the way to the reservoir. :confused:

You should be ok with bulk hose on the return side only, as long as it is compatible to the fluid and is routed so that there are no kinks in the hose.

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually bought the steel line but it looks like a PITA to get at the bolt holding it in place so I am going to try using bulk gas line hose and 4 clamps to secure it. I am going to get the Fuel injector hose because it is more heavy duty. If all else fails I will replace the steel line somehow. Again thanks for the quick reply. :biggrin:

When my low pressure hose leaked, it turned out to be a bad clamp. The spring clamps are marginal for that thick hose. Use screw clamps if that turns out to be the problem.

The line was actually leaking where it mounts to the frame with the plastic holder. Had a small hairline crack and only leaked when under pressure to return fluid. Cut the piece out and used a 3/8th inch ID fuel line and 4 screw clamps. Worked great and didn't have to go through all the crap of removing the line.:smokin:
