Yes, 1st pic., no on second.

Ist pic looks like a stainless steel glasspack muffler.
2nd pic looks like a catalytic converter complete with either a pre or post cat O2 sensor.
Look down the inside of the hole, if its pretty much empty, it's a muffler. If there is a screen mesh or honeycomb material, it's probably a cat.
