2002 Suburban rear wiper.

I have a 2002 Suburban 1500LT with rear wiper, and it has intermittent capabilities. Recently the rear wiper arm appears to be trying to park over and over when the switch is turned to off. Once in a while it will make a full pass but then it goes back to the endless park syndrome. Is this likely to be the dash switch or would it be in the wiper motor?

The position sensing is in the motor. Mine a 2004 is intermittent too sometimes, mainly in the winter. Does it ever stop? Yours sounds like the motor doesn't know its in park....

Sorry for the delay in responding. I pulled the motor and replaced it, but the replacement motor didn't have the small black rectangular module that plugs into the motor. I assume it is a pulse module of some kind. Looked at every motor available in my area and none of them have the module. New motor with old module still exhibits the same behavior. It spends all of the time that the key is on doing the lift/park thing. I am hoping that someone here might know the GM part number of the black plastic module or whatever it is as I suspect that to be the root of my problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I had the rear wiper motor unplugged all summer. Cold weather and snotty roads are back, so I plugged it back in. New rear wiper switch. New rear wiper motor. Auxiliary ground run from motor to tailgate. Motor still tries to park over and over. I can sit there in park and nothing happens, but if I step on the brake the wiper keeps going thunk thunk. Driving down the road still does it. Very frustrated. I checked all the wires that go from the tailgate to the roof of the car, all OK. Any thoughts?

Had a warm day so I ran an auxiliary ground from the lift gate to the main body of the Suburban. The wiper no longer tries to park while driving unless I use turn signals. If I brake, it parks once. If I turn on the blinker it tries over and over. Getting tired of this one.

I never worked this problem you have ...My suggestion is with the blinker on measure the voltage from the rear door to the frame ..if you have voltage from door frame to vehicle frame then the door has a poor ground. you may need to run a ground strap from the rear door to the body...pulse module is sensitive to these ground currents..

I will measure the voltage, I did run a ground from the body to the rear door. It stopped the rear wiper from constantly trying to park, now it only does it when stepping on brake or directionals. If both are operated at the same time, the wiper seems to try to park faster.
