ok i have timed this 94 blazer before and with no problems.but i just did the head gaskets, and i cant get it in time. I set it at tdc(compression stroke) and the timing tab is sitting in between the 2 timing marks. I can get it to start and run, but that's by putting it at tdc and then the dizzy at plug wire 6 6. then when i connect the wire(passenger floorboard) it all goes to hell :banghead:
the harmonic balancer hasn't slipped, or sheared the key off to be honest, last time i timed it i dont remember putting it at tdc, i lined up the 2nd mark to the timing tab dropped in dizzy on 1 and reconnected wire and she ran,

you still have to time the distributor

but if the timing marks at tdc arent lining up to the timing tab, then how can i move to the dist? and when i drop the dizzy pointing to cyl 1 when its at tdc, it wont fire?

Sounds like 180 out? Sorta bullet proof here, if all the wires are in the right place in the cap, you are on tdc compression rotor points to # 1 thats it, final timing done with brown wire disconnected.

ok well which timing mark should i be using theres 2
lets say number 1 sits at 3o clock, and number 2 sits at 12oclock. which one should be by the tab?

If you mean the marks on the tab, should be able to read 0 or 10 degrees, no? If on the balancer when the piston reaches tdc., use a straw thru the plug hole to feel tdc, then you will see which mark.
