Hey guys, I need some help/advice with regards to removing my driver side front axle on a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S with manual transmission. I’m no mechanic at all, but can usually do okay with some basic instructions. I am replacing my clutch, and so far everything is going okay except getting the driver side axle out. I got the passenger side axle out without a problem, but the driver side will not budge.
I’ve tried using a screwdriver and hammering away at the weird metal ring on the outside of the axle with a flat head screwdriver, (in the image posted) closer to the transmission. I’ve tried using a pry bar between the transmission and the axle. I’m worried I’m going to damage something with all the force I’m using. I’ve tried rotating the axle ½ inch at a time and re-hitting. I’ve tried pulling a bit too and it won't budge at all.
I posted some images just as a reference. This shouldn’t be this difficult for me, I don’t know why I am having such a hard time getting this axle out.
Any help is much appreciated.

Yeah those are pretty tough sometimes. I like to get a pair of big pliars or and let the handle straddle the axle right at the trans. And just use the leverage :loser:. Thats L for leverage.

Haha, thanks guys. Sorry for the delayed response, my email notifications were going straight to my junk mail so I assumed no one responded to it. But yes, I got the axle out. I had to just give it a couple of really quick and hard jerks (you have a dirty mind) and it popped right out. Now I can't get the darned transmission out though. It will budge about 10mm in the front and separate from the engine, and it will only budge about 2 to 3mm in the back to separate from the engine and it won't come out. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Cash for cars is our business. Junk cars are a nuisance and an eyesore. In some cases they can cost you money: if your county wants you to keep them registered and insured regardless of if they run or not, or fine you for not moving them. Getting cash for junk cars is a perfect solution to this problem.
We buy junk cars including, all years, makes and models in any condition. Wrecked cars, junk cars, damaged cars for sale, and even crashed cars for sale are of interest to junk car buyers. Yes, we buy wrecked cars; and more importantly you junk a car with us, junk car removal is included free of charge, provided it is local junk car removal. You do not pay us one cent instead we take your junk car for cash paid on the spot.
Lost car title, that is OK to. Getting a new vehicle title can sometimes cost more than a Junk Car is worth, but it is ok, lost vehicle title is no problem at all. You can still sell your car for cash, junk cars with no title is NO PROBLEM!
