p1345 engine code

I've got a '97 Tahoe with 212000 miles on the 350 Vortec engine. Last week, on our annual trip back north from Florida, the intake gasket finally failed and had to be replaced. Luckly, I was able to find a local repair shop that claimed he had done quite a number of these and didn't rip me off. Once back on the road and a couple of hundred miles later, a check engine light came on. I had it scanned at an auto parts store and they said it was a P1345 crank/cam sensor code. The engine runs smooth at any speed and doesn't run any different than before the repair. As I continued with several stops for fuel, eats, and rests all was well with no engine lights comming on. On my final stop, maybe 500 miles from the code being cleared the check engine light came on again. The light has never come on while the motor is running, only after it's restarted and very intermitent. My question is, what would have been disturbed by changing the intake gasket that could cause such an intermitent problem, yet not create a running issue with the engine. Loose electrical connection, bolt etc.????
Any advise would be appreciated, thank's

The dist retard - or + setting.
When dist is removed for intake R&R iit is hard to get it back in same spot.
The dist neg or plus retard needs to be set on a engine capable scanner.

Thank you for your input. Sounds like I will have to take it to the local dealer and have it scanned. At least it seems like a simple fix. I'll post the results asap.
Thanks again.

Not scanner have the camshaft retard set.
Dealer or a good repair shop can do it.

keep in mind, might be timing chain. 212k is alot of miles, and those chains do stretch.

Well, it's been a week since I had the timing checked. The original setting was within tolerance but we moved it around a bit. It appears to be in the same location of
0 retard, but so far it hasen't thrown a code and that's with about 300 miles of stop/ start operation. Thanks for the direction and I'll post again if it reoccurs. I appreciate all the help.

You are welcome and thanks for posting back how it went.
Actually it is not seting timing.
The timing is not adjustable.
The camshaft retard setting is turning the dist so the rotor points direct to plugwire terminal.
Good Luck

what most have happen is at this mileage [over 175,ooo mi] the distributor bearings go bad /worn/rotor play. then to stop this DTC the distributor and the cam gear is replaced. then the timing will not wander and this code will not come back.
this is a very well known failure. could be on removal of the distributor the bearing loosened up with handling.
