propane problem

i have a 350 chev with a impco propane system, mixer is the 425 that is so common. my problem is hard starting after it sits for 4 or more hours.it seems like it has to suck gas from evaporator. i have to crank eng about 8 turns before it gets fuel then its fine. ideas ?
