Wiper Module Pulse Board

I searched the threads because I'm sure this question has been asked and answered before but I was unable to find any topic.

My 1989 Chevy C1500 Silverado, 5.7 has just over 370000 miles. Besides for some minor repairs it has been a rock. One item that started creaping up is the wipers acting eratic. When you hit the switch to pulse once it will not shut off for a few minutes and sometime you have to turn the key off to get it to stop at all. After researching the problem this issue was common problem in the chevy trucks up till the late 90'S. It appears the wiper pulse module developes bad connections or cracks in the board. Easy enough fix as the board, according to videos and the other sources, is located with the wiper motor and just basically pops out and is easlily replaced by a board available at Autozone or on the internet. I ordered the board and went to replace only to find mine is not the board that everyone else has. The board I have is long and skinny and the replacement boars is more square. I can't seem to find this particular board anywere. Has anyone else ran into this issue and have a source for the board?

You may have the wrong pulse board.
One is for pulse wipers and other is for non pulse wiper .
Whick wipers do you have.?

see if you can find a part number on the board then do a search. I got a board for the 1994 S10 PU. and it was a square shape. wiper board relay was the issue. sometimes the wipers worked sometimes not very erratic..the new board fixed it 20 USD at auto zone with a warranty.......

Mine has the delay wipers but I think mine is considereed a non pulse type. Not sure how you can tell the difference on what type of wipers you have since mine has the delay and one time pulse feature.

I did take the board out and don't recall seeing a part number on it. The one from Autozone, Part Number: 906-136, is the wrong type and is the only one listed for my vehicle. The connector is the same but my board is rectangle in shape and longer. The vehicle hasn't been modified since I bought it straight off the lot brand new.

looking into this issue since the connector is the same and it will connect then see if the mounting holes line up properly. if so mount the board and give it a test run.

sometimes these circuit boards can be changed in design. if this mounts on the wiper motor housing it should work. there are two types delay and no delay. I only found ONE pulse board for your vehicle.

The connector is the same but the contact where they connect to the motor are different. Looking at the acdelco site give me the whole motor and board but it's the new style board . So my guess is if you want to replace the style board you have to change the motor with it. My only concern would be if the electrical would be the same. The delco pat number is 15036007 .

the motor only has 2 connections to it if I remember correctly. see if you can make the change so it will work. new motor is about 150 USD,

Thanks for your replies. My motor has like five terminals my board slides into and the pulse board only has like three output coonections.

when I say motor I mean motor power not relay washer etc.. the motor has 3 connections /// ground, low speed ,and high speed. since you have the old board you should be able to figure it out. the connector to operate the other controlling relay/delay washer should be the same. you just have to figure out which connection to motor is ground then low speed / high speed motor input.

I understand what your saying but it would not be practical to do especially without a schematic of the existing system. . For starters I would have to modify the input connector to feed the new board as well as supply power to the washer relay which also is on my old board. So I would basically have two boards piggybacked bypassing te function of one board but using some of the functions of the other. When all is said and done it would be easier and probably less expensive to order a new motor that comes with the new style board. Anyway, thanks for all the input I just wish they made the replacement board for mine like they all the others.

The input connector is the same but the output of the board that plugs directly into the motor is totally differnet. Not even the same configuration nor the same type conenctor. If I could post a picture it would make more sense. The issue is being lost in description.

It is hard to find these electrical parts on old not too common vehicles. no one will make a replacement not enough demand. you will have to get a guy to change out what you have or fix the OEM board ..could be just the relay on the board.

I imagine the inline fuse could also be blown.http://www.crazyki.com/13.jpg

It's defenatly a connection issue with the board and were it meets the motor. I've cleaned the connections with a tooth brush and alcohol and that works for a while. After a few weeks it started acting up again. I think the whole assembly is just worn after 25 years. Unfortunatly I have not been able to find any replacments. I may just stop by the chevy dealer and see what they suggest for a replacment if one is available. Thank everyone for your help..
