I'm going for all 4 days, and hope to meet up with some of you throughout the weekend :) for a chat, beer and possibly both ;)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/hurstg01/883355_10151538979368566_1752689078_o_zps3da4be5e. jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/hurstg01/media/883355_10151538979368566_1752689078_o_zps3da4be5e. jpg.html)

Thursday is the Moving Motor Show, which is also the 'final' set-up day for the Festival, so not all cars on show for the weekend will be there, but it gives you time to wander around, get used to where things are, you may be able to have a sneaky chat to some of the drivers / mechanics who turn up early and have a good primary look at the stalls on the infield :smokin:

Friday is the 1st of the 3 Festival of Speed 'proper' days; it's a little quieter than the next 2 days due to it being a Friday, and the chance for some decent static photo's, chats to the drivers / mechanics etc is better on this day than any other. One downside is you won't get to see all the 'stars'....

Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days, due to it being both a weekend and those being the days the 'stars' arrive. There are more timed runs up the hill and pretty much more everything - people, noise, crowds, atmosphere etc

So, which of you guys are going and when?

I'll be there from thursday night till sunday evening.
The anniversary is THE reason why I'll skip the Revival (I think) and prefer the FoS this time.
That would be nice; an AF meeting point at FoS ;)

I'm a Goodwood Junkie :) I'm off to the Revival too, with my Dad, his brother and his cousin [3 x 70+ year old motor-racing addicts + me all dressed in 40's / 50's clothing - It's going to be GOOD!]

That would be nice; an AF meeting point at FoS ;)
Bets are on it'll be near a Beer tent, possibly on the infield. For people who want to meet other AF'ers PM me your mobile number and, once we have all decided on a day I'll try my best to get us all together :)

I took over 1000 of #018 (although that was split between two days)!

And it did include a couple of me in the passenger's seat...

From their website -

"McLAREN TO SHOWCASE HERITAGE AND CONTEMPORARY CAN-AM MODELS AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

The Can-Am name to join the collection of historic McLaren models to run up the Goodwood Hill this summer
The ultimate McLaren racers of the 1960s and 70s honoured by the most powerful 12C produced to date
A short, high definition video showing the M8D Can-Am racer in detail and the 12C GT Can-Am Edition on track can be viewed here:http://youtu.be/xZoZME-itbE
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, McLaren will showcase a selection of legendary models from the company’s heritage collection at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Alongside some of the most famous race- and championship-winning models from the brand’s illustrious past will be the latest model from McLaren GT which echoes a name with significant links to McLaren – the 12C GT Can-Am Edition – which will thrill crowds as it takes part in the run up the Goodwood Hill.

The McLaren name is synonymous with Can-Am racing throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with the McLaren Racing team claiming five back-to-back world championships between 1967 and 1971, making it the most successful team in the history of the championship.

The original McLaren Can-Am racers were campaigned by great names from motorsport history including Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme, and are the inspiration for the 12C GT Can-Am Edition. This latest project from McLaren GT is the rawest, most track-focused model built by McLaren Group’s race car manufacturing arm, to-date. Like the cars with which it shares the famous motorsport badge, the 12C GT Can-Am Edition features a powerful V8 engine, with the new model fitted with an unrestricted version of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo powerplant in the 12C GT3. Further modifications over the race-winning 12C GT3 include an optimised aerodynamics package, to provide even greater levels of downforce, and a passenger seat, to allow the thrills of this latest track car to be shared.

The track-only 12C GT Can-Am Edition will be produced in strictly limited numbers, with no more than 30 being built globally. This exclusivity is fitting for the most powerful 12C produced to-date – a worthy tribute to the first McLaren model to wear the Can-Am name since 1972."

I would kindly appreciate recommendations and suggestions for the best day and events to purchase tickets for. Coming from Canada The Festival of Speed will seem like an interesting experience!

I've just read that Jenson Button will be taking the P1 and an M8D up the hill, Nick Heidfeld will take the MP4/13 up the hill, the same one that he set the hill record in :) Rob Bell will pilot an MP4-12C GT3 up the hill and Marc Gene will take the Teletubby Ferrari [LalaFerrari, get it?...] up the hill for Ferrari

This week I spoke R.Goethe and he won't ran one of his F1's at FoS, plan is to go up the hill with a turbine car and another of his cars.
During the Spa 24h weekend 18 of his cars will be there on display, big part of his Rofgo Collection, including both F1's.

Its McLarens 50th anniversary, do you think, that there will be no F1 owners showing their cars :screwy:, you never know, BMW may bring one of theirs as well. Put it this way, there was five in total the other year (no celebration), hopefully that figure will be exceeded this year

Hi,

as I said in a different topic, I have seen a very difficult moment, so I could not prepare Goodwood in good conditions.

I will made it with Alexsmolik/Alexandre, LudoC4/Ludovic, Deudeuche/Matthieu on the friday. It was not easy but as greg said, one day @ Goodwood is a day living this event.

I dreamt to go to Goodwood FOS for ten years :)

Vincent from CM-arte will be there all the week-end, so keep prepared for awesome shots ;)

I hope to see you but my oral english is not as good as writing !

It's appearing like the Friday is the best for a large AF meet up - those going on other days have my number so you may still call me for a beer ;)

So, shall we all say 12 noon as a time to get together? It might be that we meet at the Mclaren's and wander off to get a Beer / stay for a chat and take a few photo's.....

Sami, Goodwood have tightened up a lot on cameras this year. I believe we will have a few in the car but they are very strict on what you can see (ie nothing other than the car) and what you do with the videos... I'm not sure if these will ever see the light of day or not.
