Car from scratch

I might try this. If I can find a good base I might use that or just start with a bunch of metal like that Graber guy did. Has anybody else tried this?
I found a crashed Acura NSX that I can get for like $200, no joke, and I want to reincarnate it into something amazing. The NSX chassis is unusable I need something new. If I am the only one that has or will build a kit car or from scratch I might scream, but carry on... By the way, what sounds like a better idea, cost effective or fun: kit car or scratch?

Building your own car from scratch is not as daunting a task as you may think, I have built 6 so far and it all started when I was disappointed by the compromises that I found in what was at the time a very high quality kit, and ended up building a new chassis following the original then the rest seemed inaccurate and so carried on until I think I only used the fuel tank and some other bits as patterns for scratch built parts. Go on it's great fun and a great challenge.

But OT... And kind of against the guys opinion above me... I'd say it depends on your experience with it all... For example personally i'd only have much of a chance with a kit car because that'd suit me in all areas.

If you're an experienced guy who knows how to handle all the little problems & issues you can easily hit with everything, then sure you'd have more fun & less stress going from scratch, if that's you, then obviously go for it, but as you're having to ask the question in the first place, it might be worth considering that option.

To me it can be very daunting, if or should i say WHEN something goes wrong, because a build from scratch isn't as easy, to everyone, as the guy above me makes out, but he's probably a lot more experienced than me...

Which is why i'd say judge it by your own skills & abilities, what you're comfortable with, time & money on your hands... Really you should easily know with that info alone what's best for you.

If you're confident & up for it... You won't beat building from scratch, that's the obvious thing there, but otherwise, if you're doubting it, kit car might be the best way to go... Or if it's your first time trying anything with it all, then maybe go kit car first & do one from scratch later.

Ok true you do need a certain skillset but I assumed a guy asking about scratch building a car would posess the kind of skills needed or at least be willing to learn them. I am probably more disposed than most as a time served engineer, sheet metal worker, prototype builder and design engineer, but as I stated I started out at 21 yrs of age with a kit for a C Type Jaguar which as the build progressed I became less satisfied with though in fairness to the kit manufacturer it was about 90% acurate. I just was not prepared to lve with the interior compromises.

To repair a scratch, start by washing the panel with soapy water and then drying it thoroughly. to fix the scratch you won't really be removing it at all.
