I have a 2000 Buick Century and i just recently had the fuel pump replaced because it was totally shot. Everything was fine except i realized when i started it sometimes it would crank really slowly, i thought it was the battery because the one i had in there was like 4 years old. One day it just straight up wouldn't start in a Publix parking lot so i bought a new battery and it still wouldn't start. Every time i try to start it, it makes one click then a weird electric swirling sound, but wont crank at all. My buddy who has a lot of experience with cars thinks its the starter. We tried banging on it but no luck. Can anyone confirm if this is the starter? thanks for your help.

Welcome to AF, without hearing this noise how can we help you, have your buddy or you listen to the starter to see if this is where the noise is coming from, assuming good connections everywhere and a strong battery, if the whirring is from the starter , replace it.

Since you replaced the battery, I am sure the battery connections are clean and tight......if you are getting battery power on the purple wire to the solenoid with the key in the crank position, and all connections are tight, you need a starter...

Open your gas cap and listen for the fuel pump pumping when you attempt to start. If your bat is good and making connections you should here the FP attempt to send fuel.
