Hi guys
after you have painted your car bodys and you get orange peel how long do you leave it before sandpapering if it needs it and what grade do you use?

you should always leave the body for a few days to harden then use 2000 grit sandpaper then polish, look in the FAQ in m sig and u will find a bunch of helpful stuff:iceslolan

The paint has to be fully cured before you polish. If it's not fully cured, polishing will either remove too much paint, or make a mess of your finish. A fellow club member gave me some good advice on telling whether or not paint was 'cured'. He suggested 'smelling' it. If you can smell ANY of the solvents, then it is NOT cured. Once there's no paint smell left, it's done curing and ready for polishing.

Personally I usually let lacquers dry for at least 2-3 days, and enamels are more like a week (or more) just to be sure. The harder the paint, the better the results will be when you polish.
