2005 Carvan Stalling and Gas Gauge Problem

First, about a month ago the gas gauge started to malfuntion. The low fuel light will come on and the gauge will show low even though it has nearly half a tank left. When will fill it the gauge only goes to 7/8 full.

Second, today is started stalling when I press down on the pedal. If I wait a few minutes it will restart. Has stalled twice but then will run fine.

Any thoughts?

Odds are the fuel sender in the tank is shot for your fuel gauge problem. The stalling problem has a long list of possible causes. Are you seeing a check engine light and have you checked for codes? Stall just when it's cold or warm? Which engine?

It is a 3.3. It stalled when it had been drvien for several miles.

To read the codes cycle the key from "lock" to "on" (not start) and back to "lock" 3 times within 5 seconds finishing at "on". Codes appear in the odometer window. Will say "done" when finished.

My 2005 stalls after filling the tank with gas. Found out there is a tube from the tank that has a check valve to prevent fuel from going up inside and when this valve fails the vehicle can stall after filling or over filling the tank. I had the option of replacing the tank for $1100 plus labor or living with it. I can live with an occasional stall after filling the tank. If you stalling after filling the tank I hope this info helps.
