04 monte with oem radio and CD player.

Wife said she was driving down the road and it all just went quite. The radio lights and power is on and the cd works taken cd in and out. Only problem no sound whatsever with radio or cd.

So where do I look?

If the clock works, if the radio stations change, lights up, but no sound(not even a hiss with volume at max?), then it's an internal radio problem.....

By the way, just double check the plastic knob is not broken and is rotating the volume control....remove the knob and manually move the volume control....

The volume shows going up and down on face plate even with knob on. Clock and all works.

Looking between the rear speakers in the trunk there appears to be a amp mounted from the factory between them. Does that thing have a fuse in it and is it factory, it sure appears so.

I'm working on getting a used amp. Seems to be a problem with these. All the local yards cant keep them in stock they said.

Now I just hope the used one I ordered online is good.

This is what will work
02 03 04 05 Chevy Monte Carlo Factory Matsushita AMP #10449234

Are you able to PM me a link to this with amp or post a usable link so I can look at it. I'm treading in water I've never been in before.

before replacing any parts check the fuses. then inspect all speakers for shorts/opens with an ohm meter.

cheap OEM and other speakers will fail and can blow the power amps.

Used amp received. Installed and still nothing.

Either the used amp is no good or I got something else wrong.

How do I use a tester to see if amp is good or not?

Checked the fuse when first happened on pass side. Didnt see any for radio on drivers side.

check for power and ground to the audio amp using a voltmeter. check the speakers at the audio amp for OHMS. should read about 10 ohms approx could read 5 ohms depending on speakers used. make sure the ground wire at amp is grounded to frame / car body .

No testing yet. But checked for loose connections and couldnt find any loose.

Also just noticed something. No chime when door is open with keys left in the ignition. Ask wife and neither of remember the chime or not.

Since I cant figure it out.

Putting in a aftermarket system with built in amp cd/radio/mp3. What all problems do I need to look at to bypass this oem system.
