Hi, I need a new fuel pump for 2005 caravan - been to 3 different sites and used VIN and the part that has been sent was the same type from each company, BUT is does not match the one taken out by Breakmasters. the one taken out is much thicker and shorter and looks nothing like all the ones that are supposed to fit my car. I can only assume that the fuel tank is not the original so although websites are matching the part to the car, it is not matching my tank. The broken one that was taken out has a number: 771aj16751163 - any way I can figure out what pump I need? thanks

Has the van been modified? Has it been modified for wheel chair use?

I am not aware of any. My wife has owned it from near new for last 6/7 years. Mechanic says take might have been changed, but doesn't know. I can see huge difference between pump he has taken out and the ones the officially should fit. I am at Brake masters now- going to take old pump to a place called O'malleys? ( I recently moved over from UK and have only ever owned 5
Various 5 series BMWs so no nothing about USA cars or parts / shops etc)

Here is picture of old one and new one. Mechanic just said the tank looks original and the straps look original. Bit stumped! 4855448554

I would check with a dealer and compare it with a factory one. There may also be a redesign that requires some modifications?

Can you take a picture of the tank?

I just got back from O'Rielly's. At first they only found the same one, then managed to match one with the old one I took it. Have it on order for today.

Thanks all for helping

Could this be a flex fuel issue???
