I have an 04 Silverado Z71. I am getting error code U1000 on my Scanner. As well as a torque converter code and a front axel code. I can not start the truck. Its as if its in a safety lock out or something.
I talked to a service tech at the lock gmc dealer and he said the U1000 code was definitly the reason it wont start. Possible bad ECM somewhere in the system.
Anybody have this issue ? If so what was the problem? And where can i find a full wireing schematic for my truck ?

check all grounds including the battery . check all fuses and be sure they fit tightly.
the engine cranks but does not run ? see what the fuel pressure is measure it with gage . see if you get spark .
if you get no spark could be the crank sensor or wires to it .
a u1000 code and no engine run is not typical. this is a comm error and could be from bad grounds and wiring .
if you bring to dealer ship this could be an expensive visit as they guess on what the problem is as they will just replace parts until its fixed .

The starter will not crank. The starter solenoid wont even engage. The truck was purring like a kitten before this happened. I was actually on my way to go bid on a house and all the check engine lights came on and brake lights came on. At that point the computer cut my power by about 50%. I parked the truck and shut it off to see if anything would rest, and when i went to restart it i got nothing. I guess ill get out my multi meter and start testing relays and fuses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One thing i noticed this morning is that if i go to start it, every thing in the dash goes blank or off. Then when i release the key from starting position every thing starts back up as if i had just put the key back in.
My scanner gives me 11 different fixes for this problem.
1 Repair ground
2 Replace ABS ECM
3 Replace FPDM
4 Replace Ground G100
5 Cleaned Ground G110
6 Replace Ignition Switch
7 Replace PCM B Fuse
8 Replace powertrain control mod
9 Replace radio programing.
Im hoping its just a ground issue and i can get her running because my wifes car is siting on jack stands in the garage with a bad CV shaft and Cracked oil filter adapter.

Well i figured it out. IT wasnt any of the issues my scanner said where normal reported fixes. I started checking all the fuses and relays under the hood with my multi meter. I found ignition fuse A to be bad. Visually it looked fine. but when tested with my meter it was bad. I pulled the 40A blower motor fuse (which seems to only affect the interior blower on high speed only, lower speeds still work) and put it in the ignition A spot and she started rite up. all my codes went into history instead of current.

you only found the fuse that blew. now you must find out why. make sure the fuse amp is the proper amount. don't put a 40 in a 20 etc...
when the engine don't crank the last thing I thing of is getting the scanner out.
also when you turn the ignition to crank and the dash goes out that is a power problem. not surprised that the dealership was way wrong ! good luck finding the short.
