High idle

I have a 96 Stratus 2.0 liter and a 5 speed manual trans. My problem is that when driving the engine speed does not drop below 1500 rpm between shifts and when stopping at alight or stop sign. It stays at 1500-2000rpm for about 5 to 10 seconds then drops to normal idle. Only happens when driving. Does not happen if i start car and just rev motor. Goes right back to idle. I have no codes and engine runs smooth. i did loose about 5mpg in the last month. Put new plugs and wires on it already. I am totally lost here so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

that is kinda strange.. I know vacuum leaks can cause issues like that.. I would check there..a big line.. like the brake booster..not sure.. please let me know if you do figure it out.

Update.
The high idle goes back to normal idle when car comes to a complete stop and not before. I coasted down road in neutral for about a half mile and run 1500 rpm until i stopped. After stopped normal idle. I am taking it to have system scanned. Maybe that will tell me something.

Check the IAC valve, check for vacuum leaks. When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body?

Didnt find any vac leaks. Sprayed throttle body with cleaner. Not to worried about it now. Seems to be the way its supposed to work.
