Driver side power door lock switch started acting up on and finally quitting altogether, just the un-lock the lock was fine.
So I checked on ebay.. too expensive with shipping from US, average price was around 25 + 25 shipping for used !! I dare not even think of calling GM, they probably will want to sell me the whole driver's door complete ! LOL! I know I'm a little hard on GM ! Funny thing is that's all I'll drive up to this point any way.
Point.. oh yes point !
I went to the junk yard and got a bunch of things including a power door lock switch (same color) brought it home, hooked it up and I'll be darned it did the same thing !? Would un-lock but wouldn't lock !? Switched the passenger side and it worked normal.
So I figure since I got a spare now what the hay. Lets take it apart..
A little tricky to do, small screw drivers (tiny) and a little gentle persuasion as to not break the tiny plastic tabs.. Pop it apart and VOILA ! Full of lint ! Clean thoroughly, reassemble and sure enough it works great again !!
Cheers.

A little bit of patience does it all...very often. The same would apply to Transport, APV, etc....what was the model year ?

Hi, my van is a 2002 Olds Silhouette. I also had a 1998 Trans Sport and it had the same power lock switches.
Cheers

When having problems with locks I usually have 3 options - since I run a fleet of cars and rent/lease them out I deal with these issues all the time.
Dealership Warranty -If the car still has warranty then back to the dealer she goes. But if they argue and say they cannot fix it due to wear and tear you can always argue back that you noticed it before but never reported it. It's a 50-50 battle, depending how you argue it out with the dealership.
Locksmith - Locks are usually the forte of locksmiths, getting into house door locks and car doors s their speciality. Even if you need an emergency locksmith thamesmead (www.lockmaster1.com/locksmiths-thamesmead-greenwich-blackheath.html) they can help you out 24/7 right at your door step.
DIY - Read up on your locks. pen up the door card and get your hands dirty. If you don't own a high-end car then this method can save you bucks.
